Allen Graves | Grade: A
26 MIN, 13 PTS, 5 REB, 6 AST, 4 STL, 5-12 FG, 3-5 3FG, BLK, 3 TO, +15 +/-
Graves keeps making it harder and harder not to get excited about him. It was a classic “do a little bit of everything” game from the Raptors’ first-round pick. In the first half, he turned back the clock and showcased his playmaking talents from when he played point guard back in his high school days, creating for teammates and leading the team with six assists. In the second half he reminded everyone he can score too, knocking down three triples in the second half — including a huge wing three that cut the lead to one late.
The defence was all over the place in the best way. Four steals, and a team-best +15 while he was on the floor.
Seth Lundy | Grade: A
26 MIN, 22 PTS, 1 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL, 1 BLK, 8-13 FG, 4-7 3FG, 1 TO, +10 +/-
This was the Seth Lundy game. Every time the Raptors needed someone to answer, he stepped up. He got going in the second quarter, but really took over down the stretch. He converted an and-one to give Toronto the lead early in the fourth, drilled a three to put them back in front with just over six minutes left, then hit another clutch triple after Indiana had gone up five to stay in it, a big answer to what happened for the Pacers on the possession before when they slammed down a monster dunk that seemed it could have been the exclamation point. And just when you thought his night couldn’t get any better, he came up with the biggest play of the game, rising up to reject Rienk Mast’s potential game-winner at the buzzer, sending the ball flying all the way down the other end of the floor.
Jamarion Sharp | Grade: B-
16 MIN, 4 PTS, 9 REB, 3 AST, 0 STL, 3 BLK, 2-4 FG, 0-1 FT, 2 TO, +1 +/-
Another quiet night in the scoring column, but there were still plenty of positives. Sharp was much more involved offensively, even if the shots weren’t falling. He cleaned up the glass all night, finishing with a team-high nine rebounds, including six on the offensive end to give Toronto extra possessions. After not recording an assist in his first few Summer League games, he also chipped in three dimes, highlighted by a nice kick-out pass to Allen Graves for an open three.
Jaden Bradley | Grade: B+
26 MIN, 15 PTS, 5 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 0 BLK, 5-11FG, 0-1 3PT, 5-7 FT, 4 TO, +14 +/-
Bradley played more than 20 minutes for the first time this Summer League, and he made the most of them. He came out aggressive from the opening tip, doing most of his work inside the arc with a couple of smooth fadeaways and strong drives to the basket. That confidence never faded. With the game tied 93-93 in the fourth, Bradley attacked the paint, drew the foul and calmly stepped to the line. He split the free throws, but that one make ended up being the game-winner. Exactly the kind of poise you want to see from a young guard.
Nate Bittle | Grade: C+
19 MIN, 9 PTS, 6 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK, 4-7 FG, 1-4 3PT, 0-0 FT, 2 TO, 0 +/-
It was good to see Bittle stay confident from deep, especially after missing his first few attempts. He didn’t let that stop him, and eventually knocked down a big three late in the third quarter to give Toronto the lead. The biggest issue tonight was staying on the floor. Bittle picked up five fouls in just 19 minutes, limiting his impact throughout the game. The defensive presence also wasn’t quite there compared to his Summer League debut, where he recorded six blocks. He hasn’t had more than one block in his last two games, and for a 7-foot-5 centre, the Raptors will want to see more of that rim protection moving forward. There are still encouraging flashes, but this was a quieter night for Bittle.
Tyreke Key | Grade: B-
19 MIN, 16 PTS, 2 REB, 3 AST, 0 STL, 0 BLK, 4-8 FG, 0-3 3PT, 4-4 FT, 1 TO, -2 +/-
Key brought plenty of energy, constantly looking to push the pace and attack before the defence could get set. He did most of his damage inside the arc, scoring three of his four field goals in the paint while also getting to the free-throw line. He was especially effective in the third quarter, knocking down three straight shots. The grade would have been higher if not for a costly late-game mistake. Key threw a tough pass intended for Allen Graves that turned into a turnover in a critical moment. It was a difficult pass to make, and even if Graves was able to track it down, there likely wouldn’t have been much time left on the shot clock to get a quality attempt off. Lucky, that the mistake didn’t come back to bite them.
Nimari Burnett | Grade: C-
24 MIN, 4 PTS, 6 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 0 BLK, 1-4 FG, 0-0 3PT, 1-2 FT, 0 TO, +6 +/-
This was a night to forget for Burnett. He never really found a rhythm offensively, struggling to get his shot to fall throughout the game. The six rebounds were a nice bright spot and showed his willingness to make an impact in other areas, but the foul trouble became an issue as he picked up five personal fouls.
Brandon Angel | Grade: C
12 MIN, 6 PTS, 2 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 0 BLK, 2-4 FG, 2-2 3PT, 0-0 FT, 2 TO, -12 +/-
It was nice to see Angel stay perfect from deep, knocking down both of his three-point attempts, but the positives were hard to come by in this one. He only saw 12 minutes of action and finished with a -12 rating. The biggest issue came late in the first quarter when he committed two sloppy turnovers in five seconds.
Malik Thomas| Grade: D
10 MIN, 0 PTS, 2 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 0 BLK, 0-2 FG, 0-1 3PT, 0-0 FT, 1 TO, -17 +/-
Not the Summer League debut Thomas was hoping for. He played 10 minutes and had a quiet night, finishing without a point and struggling to make much of an impact on either end of the floor. Defensively, he had a tough time staying in front of his matchup and looked a step behind at times. His best moment came on a fast-break assist to AJ Hoggard, but overall it was a forgettable first appearance.
