Gameday: Raptors @ Heat – Apr. 18/12

The Heat host the Raptors for the last time this season; lead the series 2-0

With four games left in the season, apathy has set-in; for me at least. Even Arsenalist has been more excited for the “Thank God the Season’s over Party” party than watching the Heat. Seriously, he’s going to have like three too many drinks and make a fool of himself; you don’t want to miss that.

The Heat are still playing for home court against the Bulls, should they meet in the playoffs, and will be aggressive from the tip in hopes of putting this one away early to get some rest for their big three (Wade was rested against the Nets, so that might happen again tonight). They have six games left, and have 2.5 games to makeup; seeing as they haven’t won in Chicago all season…you see where I’m going…

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Without Calderon and Bargnani in the lineup, and now that Dentmon has been released, this team is super short handed. Having to deal with LeBron on the wing, James Johnson will get some burn (notice how under the radar he got out of the doghouse the last couple games?) since Alan Anderson doesn’t have the size/strength to check LeBron for a full 48.

Whatever, this game is a loss; I’m more interested in the ESPN Rumor (insider required) on the Raptors focusing on PG’s in the offseason. For those of you without an Insider access:

Is it just me, or does this read like the ground work is being set to move Jose in the summer? We’ve talked ad nauseum about the merits of keeping/trading Jose for years now, but he’s had a pretty damn good year, and rates at the top of the heap in pure point rating:

It will be tough to get value back for him considering his contract and the new CBA, but what if we could make a move to land Jennings or Lin with pieces; I’m sure we’d all be on board for that. Obviously nothing works in trade machine because of, but there will be interest in a top-flight point guard on an expiring contract this summer.

Back to the game tonight: the Heat are 12.5 point favourites, and playing at home; me smells a spanking.
