Effort wasted as big guns misfire

Raptors 100, Cavaliers 108 – Box
The argument that Chris Bosh is not a “max player” has died down considerably this year, but this game jogged some old memories and reminded us that there are tiers in the class of 2003 and Bosh isn’t in the top one. Unexpected bench performances from Wright and Belinelli [...]

Gameday: Raptors vs Cavaliers – Jan. 19/10

The Raptors are back on a roll after beating both the Knicks and the Mavericks in convincing fashion on the weekend. Tonight they are in Cleveland on the first night of a back-to-back against the Mavs. I always thought that the win we had over the Cavs was a disservice to this team because it [...]

Gameday: Raptors vs Magic – Nov. 1/09

Wow, Friday against the Grizz didn’t work out at all. The Raptors looked like…the Raptors. They were getting burned from the perimeter, interior defense was suspect, team rebounding was non-existent, they weren’t sharing the ball, and weren’t hitting their shots. Perfect storm. Today, the Magic roll into town, and the unspoken rivalry is born again.

Andrea, are you for real?

Son, what did I say about bringing that garbage in here?
Cavaliers 91, Raptors 101 – Box
Expectations are still in check but that felt good. After the pre-season we had and all that talk of fatigue, chemistry, nine new players and what not, it was good to get our first quality win out of the [...]

No Pirates in Philly

Bargnani defending the paint while everyone else watches.
They got Cheese Steaks and clean up after our drafting messes, but they don’t have any damn pirates, which the Raptors can be thankful for. I was half wrong about Philly at the start of the year; I pegged them for a 50 win team ahead of the [...]

What did you expect?

Careful Chris, don’t want to injure that mouth.
Cavaliers 93, Raptors 76
As unlikely as a playoff spot is, I’m still looking forward to this bunch at least try and make a push to prove that they’re more than a collection of overrated misfits and underachievers. The trade has breathed a little purpose into the season [...]

When the King is in the House, OMG, Danger!

In awe of the King.
Cavs 101, Raptors 83
Was I the only one embarrassed when the Raptors started the game showing zone? Or when Lebron dunked twice against a zone defense? Or when Szczerbiak hit 2 of his first 3 treys (the guy doesn’t jump, and it’s not like he’s a threat to drive past you) [...]

Raptors lose another “statement game” to Cleveland

Toronto Raptors 83, Cleveland Cavaliers 90
Depending on your Raptor beliefs you can look at this one in a few different ways: 1) All in all a good effort by the Raps, too much Lebron in the end 2) Jose sat for way too long in the third/fourth quarter during which time Cleveland went +6, 3) [...]
