  • Lowry Trades

The always highly likely four team trade:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=auonv3z

Phoenix: Lowry, Ed Davis, Alec Burks
    Lakers: Bargnani, Dudley, Bell
    Utah: Dragic
Toronto: Gasol, from the Suns lower of LAL or PHX 2013 pick - no protections, Utah 2013 pick and right to swap in 2014.

Raps roll with Calderon and have a better shot at resigning him with Gasol in town. 2 first round picks.

Lakers get 3 pieces for 1 part who all fit D'Antoni/Howard better. Bargnani blah blah blah we all know. Dudley and Bell know the PHX system and are upgrades over current wing depth.

Utah gets a PG which they need. Cap space is pretty useless for them as Utah is in the same situation as Toronto when it comes to free agency.

Suns are a mess. Dragic reportedly said everyone has given up on team. Hunter reportedly like Marshall after working with him closely all season. All speculation on my part. Essentially Lowry for Dragic, Ed/Burks/Kleiza for a Dudley and 1st round pick. Maybe PHX training staff can work wonders with Linas.

I personally like this trade, when we can use the draft picks to try and strengthen the wing position (specifically the 3 spot), and a point guard, Jose is going to decline. Gasol won't be a problem because he'll expire in the next year I believe, where essentially Ed Davis takes over again.

Kleiza is mentioned but I don't see him in the actual trade. Is he going to Phoenix as well?

Would love something like that.. not a total fan of Gasol to Toronto, but would take it for 2 lottery picks.

Gasol is expiring next season, where nearly 18$ million comes off the books, so not only do we receive two picks this year, we have cap space for free agency/deals acquiring prospects or elite players for the future. Good trade Matt.

Sorry. Once I had 2 picks going to Toronto and Bargnani leaving I thought, what can I do next to make it in their favour?? lol

            Lowry to Atlanta!

            http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=adz64wo

            Atlanta: Gay, Lowry
Memphis: Harris, Zaza, Korver, Jenkins, Houston first round pick from ATL
Toronto: Teague, Wroten, 1st rd pick from Atlanta

Atlanta: Lowry, Morrow, Gay, Smith, Horford
Memphis: reportedly still looking to move Gay if the right deal comes along. Deal clears his contract and makes them more competitive for this season with a big C, backup PG, and 2 shooters.
Toronto: 2 young guards and a pick for Lowry: schwing!

I don't particularly see it for Memphis since they have less financial reason to do such a trade then they used to.

Also, Wroten was already traded to Cleveland I believe.

You are likely correct. But the rumours have been Memphis will trade Gay at some point it has just put them in a position of leverage.... well until the off season.

Selby was traded to Cleveland and assigned to the D-League.

Giving up too much for an aging big. We should do better trading Lowry, Davis, Bargs either individually or in a package. Plus 2013 an extremely weak draft class.

LOL. Seriously dude? YOU?! Of all people are calling these reasonable, respectable, fairly realistic trades horrible?

                            ok.

                              Toronto/LA/Boston:
                              http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bhy6tya

Toronto gets Pau Gasol, Boston's 2014 pick (unprotected - if not lottery, than 2015, 2016, 2017 or 2018 until they get in the lottery)
                              Boston gets Lowry
                              LA gets Bargnani, Jason Terry

LA gets a veteran shooter and a stretch 4 (D'Antoni's bread and butter). Boston gets Lowry (who they want), and Toronto gets Gasol with an unprotected pick from Boston in 2014. Why 2014? Because I think Boston is going to be a lottery team next year. Garnett and Pierce will be one year older and Rondo may not be back until after Christmas (and may not be the same guy after his ACL).
