Speak Republic…speak.
1) If Bosh walks this summer without a S&T or we get limited value back in return, how much of the blame should Colangelo shoulder? Or do you blame Bosh for turning his back on the franchise?
2) You get a call from a rival Eastern Conference GM offering a nice package. However, he insists on including either Reggie or Amir even though you aren’t getting a big back in the deal. Do you do the deal? If so, who would you include of the 2 players?
3) The Vanilla Ice spectacle was both loved and mocked. If you had the opportunity to book one old school act for a halftime show, who would it be?
138 Raps
1) It’s not a matter of blame. It would suck for us as fans to lose Bosh, but who are we to say he shouldn’t go pursue a title in Miami…he’ll do what he feels is best for him, which is exactly what anyone else would do. If loyalty to the Raps or the extra cash makes him decide to stay, that’s great. If not, well, c’est la vie.
2) I guess it depends on how good the deal is, but if it was for, say, Iguodala? Hell yes. And I’d prefer to send Reggie. Amir’s just good at a lot more things than Reggie is. (that said, I’d pull the trigger on Amir+Jose for Iggy in a second…he’s that good, and absolutely freaking perfect for what this team needs.)
3) Digable Planets, hands down.
1) Wholeheartedly I’d blame Colangelo. This is a business, not one were you have to worry about one’s feelings. Unless Bosh said “I’m going to stay here” and has given BC that commitment and then all of a sudden changes his mind come July, then the ownness is entirely on Colangelo shoulders.
2) I’d do it and right now my decision is easy. Package Reggie along. The only risk in keeping Amir is that we stand a pretty good chance in losing him this summer seeing how he’ll likely be looking for a considerable raise. Can we afford to keep Amir? We night stand a better chance in retaining Reggie, but at this point who knows if he’ll ever play again. :(
3) Hmmm …. good question. I’d have to say either Eric B & Rakim or Stetsasonic.
Almost no what the reason – if Colangelo gets it wrong, its his fault. It’s his job to get the big decisions right.
His only out would be to fix it immediately = make the playoffs anyway.
1) both would shoulder the blame. Colangelo wouldn’t have done a good enough job to keep him (although he has made the attempt), but Bosh still makes his own choices. Regardless of the odd bitching and moaning from fans, he is still heavily supported in Toronto.
2) If one had to be moved I’d say Reggie.
3) Biz Markie
1. Colangelo
2. Reggie (any other answer is nuts)
3. Maestro Fresh Wes
1. blame? sorry there is no blame in business. just kudos and unemployment cheques.
2. Reggie faster than a speeding bullet. not becuase of Reggie but because Amir is an asset few teams have. And hes getting better.
3. Hieroglyphics.
1. If Bosh keeps us in the dark and doesn’t tell us ahead of time that he will leave then Bosh but if Colangelo gets any hits of Bosh leaving then the blame is his.
2. Reggie, Amir is still young and has more upside.
3. Barney the dinosaur vs. the Raptor in a trampoline dunk competition.
hints*
Babcock
Reggie
ABBA strictly for the lulz
3) Bid Daddy Kane, with Scoob and Scrap Lover dancing and Mr. Cee deejaying
Colangelo for screwing it up. It’s his job to gauge these things and act accordingly.
I’d lean towards keeping Amir, we’re not going anywhere great this season. It’s better to keep the long-term in mind.
Sir Mix-a-Lot
Repeat after me….. No one has ever turned down a max contract…. No one…. Now we are being told Wade, LeBron, Jo Johnson and Bosh all will???? The Raps are finally close to being healthy, Bargnani continuing to play better, defense improved, DD learning, Amir improving, players better understanding their roles, Hedo still far from playing to his potential, the road record still suspect and so on and so on….
So how many teams can Bosh go to, give up some $20-30 million and make them a certain top four title contender without Wade or LeBron joining him???? The Lakers? Who else???? I love the doom and gloom and negativity…..
1 – not gonna happen. But c’est la vie if it does. Last summers moves put us in a position where it won’t be the end of the world.
In that case I’d credit Colangelo for the foresight and hold some resentment towards Bosh for leaving his city.
2) Amir is an unrestricted free agent next season who will garner some interest. He might price himself out of our range if or in all probablility, Bosh resigns.
But, I would have to be blown away by a trade, to package Amir and Jose(who is wrongly IMO the one most likely to be packaged. Don’t understand the desire for Iguodala, when we have DeRozan under his rookie contract. I have seen enough to say let’s keep this kid and let him develope.
3) BTO
1) I’m not sure how you can blame Bosh for this. Colangelo didn’t do a good job of building the franchise around him. Similarly, I’m not sure I can blame Colangelo too much. Perhaps he thought Bosh had already peaked. Or thought Bargnani had greater upside. I’m not sure the media should crucify Colangelo too much if the Raps don’t get much value back…just the way S&T deals sort of work.
2) Lol, you include both if you have to. But if only one is required, then you have to guess how much money Amir will want in the offseason and whether you are willing to pay that much. If not, then send off Amir. Otherwise, send Reggie.
3) No comment.
Im 100% behind B.C no matter what he does. Great G.M. & if raptors dont keep him he will get another G.M. job immediately
1. I blame Toronto because it’s too small a market to compete with the entire USA market that presents itself to Bosh, even if he played in Minnesota. Canadian companies don’t see much value in Bosh’s advertising impact across Canada.
2. Beggars can’t be choosy …
3. Toronto Symphony Orchestra playing stuff like Star Wars theme music.
This is the false choice that people keep presenting. Bosh stays = he loves TO, Bosh leaves = he hates Canada.
What if instead he doesn’t think much of Colangelo’s GM skills, and doesn’t see a championship contender forming over the next 5 years? What if he thinks less of DeRozan and Bargnani’s upside than us? Certainly if you think that DeRozan has limited upside and Bargnani won’t improve much, then there isn’t much hope for optimism. And this is a guy who sees them all the time in practice, and should have a better sense of their potential than us.
Maybe he is tired of guarding the 5 spot half the time, doesn’t want his body to break down doing this?
Just too many possibilities for us to reduce it to something about Toronto/Canada/small market.
You got that right … the Toronto-centric t.h. fans just can’t see past their popcorn … thinking it’s a matter of “love-hate” … when it’s a business and lifestyle decision by Bosh … who doesn’t really need that extra “$30 Million” and stay and suffer in TO because he already has enough money for 10 lifetimes.
Bosh has made his contribution to the Raptors, and now he will want to look for new opportunities elsewhere … back home in the USA where his family live in Dallas. Give the guy a break and set him free.
The best thing BC can do for the Bosh and the Raptors is trade him off asap for the best deal he can broker. Fans just think of themselves because they are basically selfish … sooo obvious.
FAQ,
you just called Toronto a small market??? are you high?
as you’d say, sooooooo stupid
Hey, Dan .. did you know that Toronto is filled 52% with new immigrants who didn’t even live in Canada 15 years ago according to StatsCan???
These are great people who are not bball savy and really don’t relate to Bosh the American … particularly in advertising, which chops the market in half and makes TO that much more unappealing to Bosh … believe it.
Where are those immigrants coming from? Basketball, next to Futbol, is the most globalized sport in the world.
Can we immediately put to bed the notion that Bosh is gonna forego $30 million. It ain’t gonna happen. He’s either re-signing here or leaving in a S & T.
You’re whole argument was that he can make more money in the US, but then you just came back with the fact that it’s not about the extra money he would make re-signing with the Raptors because he’s already made enough money.
You pretty much just shot down your own argument.
And you’re making it look like you just want Bosh to leave. I think you may have some issues.
Tim .. don’t be so pathetic and like a t.h. fan who shudders at the thought of Bosh leaving. I only suggested Bosh had enough money to be able to risk turning down $30 Million over 6 year and recoup that $5 Million per year if not more by playing on a contending US team.
Why do you sink to the level of t.h. fans and lash out so immaturely ..???
I’m not, I’m just trying to grasp your argument. You keep saying that Bosh will leave because he can make so much more money in the US. That was your main argument. Then you just suggested that he had enough money so that he could turn down the extra $30 million he would make by staying with the Raptors.
Is your argument that he will stay because of money or that he will leave because of money?
Yes, he can leave. We all know that. But there are just as many reasons for him to stay as to leave. If he wants to leave, he will, but you’re trying to argue from two different (and opposing) sides, hoping to hedge your bet.
I’m just being considerate of Bosh and his future decision to leave … while you and all the other t.h. fans only selfishly think of yerselves … sooooo obvious.
Since Bosh doesn’t even know you and nothing you do would ever affect him, I’m not sure how you are being considerate of him.
Thanks Tim, it’s nice seeing FAQ get out-argued. I usually just get fed-up and tell him to f-off.
I try and do my part for the good side of the force. Plus, I’m really stubborn, which helps.
When Bosh is traded, you can fold up yer ratsh!t lil’ blog and try seppuku … if yer that stubborn ..LOL
Like you honored your statements to not post again if the Raps didn’t start 3-30?
yes, so obvious.
And we all know how precise your predictions have been in the past.
You’re a narcissistic, self hating freak.
Good things do happen from time to time.
I’m also wondering if there’s any empirical evidence that a star in T.O. foregoes advertising dollars by playing here instead of in the US. It’s an argument that’s thrown out there all the time but I’m just not certain it’s true.
guys, do you think that if Toronto gets to the finals, Bosh’s popularity will go off? If Jordan played for TO, will he be less popular?
Who shit on FAQ’s Cornflakes ?
Can easily think of a dozen or so less desirable places to play. Not sure where you get you basis for this theory that TO is not a location of choice. Seems to me players decisions, while money plays a big part, so does the opportunity to win.
While I know you disagree, I feel Toronto has a good young nucleus, better than 90% of teams out there. If I were a veteran FA next year, looking to be a part of a winning team, I would consider TO.
Tinman says: “Who sh!t on FAQ’s Cornflakes ?”
If I were a veteran FA next year, looking to be a part of a winning team, I would consider TO.
……………………………………..
Looks like you are trying to sh!t on my “Cornflakes” … but all you reveal about yerself is that you are full of sh!t … sooooo obvious.
FAQ – You can ignore the FACTS if you want to but there are bad markets for any NBA star to end up in. And Toronto is a long way from the worst.
Ask Vince carter if NJ was the best place to boost his career?
Carter had amazing across the US attention while based in Toronto – he did kill his “media-star” status all on his own in the end.
KG – despite being one of the best PF could never get the same attention in Minny as in Boston. But he wasn’t ignored in Minny and he wouldn’t ignored in Toronto either. If anything he would get considerably more attention here than in the US’s frozen wasteland.
In Toronto any star gets lots of attention – a bad 2008-09 season being the real reason for a lack of US interest now. All the Raps or anybody else has to do to get attention is win.
If Bosh joins LeBron or Wade in the USA, he will get more public exposure in a 300 million market than he could ever get in TO or Canada .. and that will translate into big endorsement contract$$$$.
Toronto is a NBA backwater … and Americans feel sad for Bosh stuck in Canada when he could be so much more appreciated in his own country … and that’s why Bosh is heading south .. sooner or later … believe it.
“If Bosh joins LeBron or Wade in the USA, he will get more public exposure in a 300 million market than he could ever get in TO or Canada .. and that will translate into big endorsement contract$$$$.”
You keep saying this, but my question is WHY? Why would he get a big endorsement contract simply by playing with LeBron or Wade? Just saying it doesn’t make it so.
There’s no previous historical evidence that backs up your case that a player can make more money simply by playing with one of the best.
Yes, playing on a Championship team can bring more exposure, but then it brings up the more compelling question of whether Bosh wants to feel like he’s riding someone else’s coattails to a Championship. Everything I’ve read about Bosh tells me he’d rather lead a team to a Championship.
If Bosh feels he can be an MVP calibre player, which all evidence points to the belief he can, he must feel that he would be able to win a Championship on his own. Leading a team to a Championship would garner a LOT more exposure and endorsements than simply being a second banana to LeBron or Wade on a Championship team.
You keep using the same mantra, but don’t seem to realize that there are compelling arguments BOTH ways. Your gut may tell you that Bosh is leaving, but your gut also told you the Raptors would go 3-30. Do yu really want to trust it again?
Bosh’s career and opportunities outside of bball are dead in Canada .. and if you can’t comprehend that then no amount of explaining will solve yer conundrum …
Let’s all believe the guy who predicts so accurately.
Get a new crystal ball. Yours is cracked!
FAQ, you said you got banned. Apparently not.
And I’d like to see some hard numbers backing up your LOOOOONG held claims that Bosh can make more marketing money anywhere in the US than he can in Toronto. Maybe comparing his income to guys like Amare Stoudemire or even a guy like Carmelo Anthony or Joe Johnson. These are perennial All-Stars, but a notch below Wade/Kobe/LeBron, and on a similar level to Bosh. Of course the difference is that those three guys have achieved some playoff success, and Bosh hasn’t. The playoffs are where most players get national recognition.
One thing you don’t seem to take into consideration is that in the US, Bosh would be competing for marketing dollars with all the other NBA players close to his calibre, and being a big man, he would be at a disadvantage. In Canada, there’s not that competition.
Tim … there’s nothing in Canada for Bosh advertising-wise … and you know it. You can bet Bosh’s agent is right now negotiating endorsement contracts for Bosh in the USA and worldwide too. Then they will add up the numbers and see what they got in the pot.
Bosh with his predator-style dreadlocks is certainly a striking image .. and great for product identity …!!!
I think Bosh is a bit more American risk-taking on his future … while you are a typical risk-averse Canadian .. thinking that the universe somehow rotates around Toronto …. pity ….
Oh … and they were holding back my postings for ‘moderation’ on that particular thread … the cowards ….!!!!
Nobody has time to moderate anything here. If you use cut-and-paste, have excessive links, excessive exclamation marks, or post too frequently you’ll evoke the anger of the spam filter. If your comment is held in moderation it’s the spam filter’s decision, not ours. Perhaps that says something.
“Tim … there’s nothing in Canada for Bosh advertising-wise … and you know it.”
I do??? How do you know that??? GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!
“You can bet Bosh’s agent is right now negotiating endorsement contracts for Bosh in the USA and worldwide too.”
How is Bosh playing in the US going to get him worldwide contracts? Wouldn’t playing on the Raptors make him more appealing to fans in Europe, who have embraced the Raptors?
And how would Bosh’s agent be negotiating endorsement contracts in the US without Bosh even knowing where he is going to be next year. Companies aren’t going to negotiate with so much up in the air. Your assumption is completely untrue.
“I think Bosh is a bit more American risk-taking on his future … while you are a typical risk-averse Canadian .. thinking that the universe somehow rotates around Toronto …. pity ….”
Well, considering I live in Vancouver, that pretty much shoots that statement to pieces. And how exactly am I a typical risk averse Canadian? Maybe you could give me some examples in my private and business life that could better orchestrate this argument.
Hey, Tim … I do the FAQ-ing here … not you …!!!!
Could you get some facts before you spew FAQs…
The same old tired arguments are getting tiresome.
rofl!!!
I do like how FAQ ignored every arguement made (all of which are logical and valid, by the way), and made some irrelevant comment.
I love how people ignore the Raptors being used as a springboard for unproven players, who later capitalize on their exposure in Canada when going back to US.
No player worth their salt has left TO and fell into obscurity in the US. All this talk about he will not get the same exposure in the US, is idiotic. He used the Raps to build his brand and recognition.. now he’s going to go to the US and disappear?
Yeah, that’s perfectly logical.
Point made. That was all I was looking for.
I’ll concede that, because I’m not going to pretend I know jack about what goes on in Bosh’s mind and the ins and outs of this business. Instead, I think I’ll just wait it out and see what happens.
Hey, FLUX … I don’t even want to bother trying to explain the facts to these honkers who only offer non sequitur arguments … it’s a waste of time engaging them because they all assume Bosh will stay for love and money … and forsake his country .. the USA …!!!!
Somnam, respect.
Ultimately, everyone is entitled to an opinion and no one knows what will happen. But for people to pretend everything is in the Raptors favour, when Chris clearly has BC in the Reggie Evans lock, is complete and total falsehood. Examining the “negative” outcomes or the least desirable ones does not make anyone less of a fan, no matter what the BC propaganda army tries to tell anyone.
FAQ,
there is a couple of t.h. on here pushing their blogs and pro BC propaganda under the pretense of “fighting for the right side”. Chasing the Scott Cockfoot, Eric Smith and that Dino guy dream.
facts – unless they involve the best possible outcome are not something they are familiar with. How can they be, when they were raised on Chuck/ Leo and RaptorsTV? There is no world outside of that for them.
“I love how people ignore the Raptors being used as a springboard for unproven players, who later capitalize on their exposure in Canada when going back to US.”
Okay, so T-Mac……and….uh….who else then?
And if you read the arguments (something I’ve noticed you have difficulty doing), you might notice that no one said Bosh would get less exposure in the US. What everyone (besides FAQ) is saying is that there is no golden idol of marketing opportunities for Bosh in the US. There are obviously advantages to the US market (obviously size), but FAQ ignores the fact that the location in the US matters, as does the fact that Bosh is a) a big man, who generally get less marketing attention, and b) is not LeBron, Kobe or Wade, so would not be nearly as in demand. Tim Duncan never lit the marketing world on fire and he’s a 3 time NBA Champion, 2 time MVP and probably the greatest PF in the history of the game.
And I think what people are taking issue with is that FAQ is not guessing Bosh will leave, but saying he will, and giving reasons that don’t quite make sense and are often contradictory. Personally, I have no idea whether he will stay or leave, but I am leaning towards believing he will stay because of the success of the team and money difference. But the difference is that I’m not saying I KNOW. It’s a guess. I’m not stupid enough to think that I know what’s going to happen.
You think this happens for Moon before TO?
http://www.athletepromotions.com/athletes/Jamario-Moon-appearance-booking-agent.php
C’mon man, BC creates this environment in TO, where when you cross the border as a suspect player and turn into a potential All-Star by showcasing your skills.. the Humps and Joey Gs of the world. My man singed Luke Jackson, remember that?
This is a farm team, guy. A testing ground for Euros (hello Roko and Greek guy we drafted that will never play), a glue factory for old timers and springboard for legit stars. TMac, VC, Mouse, Bosh, Doug Christie even went on to greater pastures..AP may even get a ring. Look at the players we’ve had and where they have gone. DD is next…prove on Raps if he belongs… get shipped out after honing skills and getting or real team.
“C’mon man, BC creates this environment in TO, where when you cross the border as a suspect player and turn into a potential All-Star by showcasing your skills.. the Humps and Joey Gs of the world. My man singed Luke Jackson, remember that?”
Uh, what?
“This is a farm team, guy. A testing ground for Euros (hello Roko and Greek guy we drafted that will never play), a glue factory for old timers and springboard for legit stars. Wow, if that wasn’t a glimpse into Fluxland’s psyche, I don’t know what is. I think what you have is an inferiority complex. And that’s just for starters.
“A testing ground for Euros (hello Roko and Greek guy we drafted that will never play)”
Like, say, San Antonio, the Lakers, Sacramento, Detroit, New York or really every single NBA team out there?
“…a glue factory for old timers…”
Like, say, San Antonio, the Lakers, Sacramento, Detroit, New York or really every single NBA team out there?
“…and springboard for legit stars.”
Okay, this has been brought up before. The Raptors can’t seem to keep it’s stars, or in Fluxland’s world, the Raptors purposely have made themselves into a farm team for the rest of the league.
You could almost fit the same profile to a team like Minnesota, that had Stephon Marbury, Tom Gugliotta, Kevin Garnett, and well no one really else, go on to greater success elsewhere.
Golden State’s been like that in the last 15 years, with Chris Webber, Tim Hardaway, Chris Mullin, Mitch RIchmond, Gilbert Arenas etc, all finding more success after leaving Golden State.
The less said about the Clippers the better.
Amazing. There IS a pattern here. Less successful teams tend to lose more good players, whereas more successful teams don’t. It’s almost as if there’s a correlation!
Uh, what? YAWN!
Are you saying there is a competitive balance in the NBA?
That it’s luck only certain team are successful?
Are you saying everyone is on an equal playing field?
Year in and year out there are only 4 to 5 teams that can legitimately compete for the title – and it’s always the usual suspects. The rest of the teams build up hopeless hype and are farm teams.
I’ve been calling them the Toronto TimberClips for years. Is that too harsh for you? How’s this – it’s like the Utah Jazz in the West, oh sure we can talk all day about how great they are… but they are eating a playoff exit year in and year out.
“Year in and year out there are only 4 to 5 teams that can legitimately compete for the title – and it’s always the usual suspects. ”
Not been following the NBA long?
Let’s look back a little…
Five years ago, Detroit, Miami, Phoenix and San Antonio were in the Conference FInals, with Dallas, Seattle, Sacramento and Houston also winning at least 50 games.
Ten years ago, Indiana, the Lakers, the Knicks and Portland were all in the Conference FInals, with Utah, Minnesota, Phoenix and Miami also winning at least 50 games.
Fifteen years ago, Orlando, Indiana, Houston and San Antonio in the Conference FInals, with Utah, Phoenix, Seattle, New York and Charlotte also winning at least 50 games (Houston only won 47 games, but win the title).
So three different periods and out of 12 possible Conference Finalists, only two teams appear more than once. That’s ten different COnference Finalists and 17 different teams winning at least 50 games.
Cleveland, who are favourites to at least get to the FInals, only had one other successful period, in the early 80’s, but mostly have been a lottery team, and at one time were called the Clippers of the East.
To the new NBA fan, or the pessimist, it may seem like it’s always the same teams that are at the top of the standings, but that’s not true. Teams obviously go through periods when they are either successful or not. It has to do with luck and good management. San Antonio lucked out when they were able to draft David Robinson, and then Tim Duncan (they also had great management and coaching). Without drafting LeBron, Cleveland would not be where they are now. The Lakers got to where they are by shrewd drafting and good trades.
Of course, I’m guessing you already knew all this.
“I’ve been calling them the Toronto TimberClips for years. Is that too harsh for you?”
Uh, no. They were pretty bad for a few years, there. Here’s the funny thing. That doesn’t necessarily mean they will continue to be bad. At one time, Cleveland was a laughing stock of the NBA, much, much worse than Toronto ever was.
“How’s this – it’s like the Utah Jazz in the West, oh sure we can talk all day about how great they are… but they are eating a playoff exit year in and year out.”
You do know that the Jazz went to the Finals twice in the 90’s, and Conference FInals 5 times. Like several other teams (Portland, Seattle, Phoenix etc) Utah simply got Jordanized. Bad luck, but that’s how it goes.
You may believe that the Raptors never have a chance to ever be contenders because of some cosmic conspiracy, but it’s simply not true.
One thing I don’t really understand though, is if you really feel that way, why on earth do you keep coming to this site and watching the team? You’re obviously not a fan of the team. FInd a team that you can get behind or watch another sport. It simply doesn’t make sense to continue following a team if you never feel they have a chance. That’s masochistic.
FAQ was right..discussing anything with you is completely futile.
Who said anything about conference finals? Who cares about regular season wins?
Don’t worry about what kind of fan I am. It has nothing to do with the Raptors and their place in the NBA.
You sure got some balls, psychoanalyzing me after you call people on your blogs morons then get your panties in a bunch because I implied you were acting like a homer. And then banned me for not keep the talk basketball related… You hypocritical fuck.
Wow, talk about getting your panties in a bunch.
And I banned you because you were being a dick. If anyone OTHER than FAQ can tell me you’re not, then I’ll apologize and reinstate you. If no one can, that pretty much tells yu everything you need to know around here.
Teams that can’t keep stars, never contend, seem to be farm teams for richer, more successful clubs, these are just mismanaged organizations. Most NBA teams are mismanaged to one degree or another. Until Colangelo came to town the Raps were one of them. Hiring him was an act of coming to their senses.
umm. FAQ VC was voted in to the allstar bu fans as near top votes consistently while being in Toronto. TO is actually a very big market in relative terms. Its like the 4th or 5th biggest city on all of North America.
I mean wtf is cleveland? im sure its a nice place. but they just happened to kand lebron because they sucked for ever. do you believe lebron would not get endorsements and attention if he was drafted to TO?
thats silly.
Actually, Vince was the LEADING vote getter three years in a row while in Toronto. That just doesn’t make sense, does it?
I made a similar argument to the poster at least twice….with no rebuttal. Dont hold your breath having your logic/reality acknowledged.
Thats an eyeopener! People are prone to buy a shoe or a car or a condom …because the nba player shilling it plays in Minnesota but problematic because he is in TO??? Thats hilarious. Like most care.
If the Raps offer the absolute max, and Bosh still leaves, then how can you blame Colangelo? If Colangelo offers less than the absolute max, and Bosh leaves, then how can you blame Bosh?
I would never trade Amir if I could trade Reggie in the same deal…he’s a 22-yr old who has five years of NBA experience, and only upside.
Finally – Kris Kross for sure. Imagine those two thirty year old dudes taking time off of baggin’ groceries to sing “I Missed the Bus” one more time…my head would explode!
1) Irresponsible to answer/speculate without knowing what will transpire. Bosh should do what’s best for Bosh – although I hope he feels some (however small) bit of loyalty to a franchise and fan base that has showed the same to him.
Blame Colangelo? What if a couple key starters are hurt and we miss the playoffs? Do we say “told ya we should have traded Bosh at the deadline!” Of course not. If Bosh keeps playing the ways he has to date, it will be a S&T scenario (I wouldn’t give up $30M, would you?) – its a question of what we can get back.
I’ll go on the record that we should absolutely NOT trade him before the deadline – and accept the many risks (and potential rewards) with that decision.
2) Yes. We can live with one of the two if we get, for example a nice upgrade at the wing (likely trading one of our other wings as well). I would prefer to keep Amir, but its entirely dependent on what deals would look like (e.g. if we received a MUCH better upgrade at the wing, but the team demanded Amir, then we would have to think about it).
3) Maestro (Fresh Wes)
Raptors – keep your powder dry and trust in GM. (oops another gun reference)
Really, the 30 million argument is getting old..
Gilbert during contract talks..
“I want to get a six-year deal. I want to be a max player. If my team decides that they don’t want me here any more and they’re going to go in a different direction, then I got to look elsewhere. For me to look elsewhere, I want to go find a championship team who’s a championship contender. I’m going to have to take less money, but I’m willing to do that to win a ring. If my team doesn’t want me, then I’m going to another team and I’m going to take less money to go there.”
And he ended up taking 111M when the contract was for 127M.. just so his team can sign other players.
Just because to Joe Public 30M is more then their entire families will make in this lifetime and can’t wrap their mind on someone “leaving 30M on the table” doesn’t mean that millionaires think that way:
“”What can I do for my family with $127 million that I can’t do with $111 million?” G.A.
The fact we can sign him for more.. has zero bearing on if he stays or not. NONE.
If you wanna talk winning, where else does Chris Bosh get to be the #1 option, with this good of a roster? CB4 is staying.
Who said anything about being the no1 option? Where did that get him in TO?
In fact, I think his success with the Olympic team:
gold medal + not no1 option + still getting US recognition = hmmm…maybe I can get everything I want and not have to put up with “franchise player” talk night in and night out.
But yeah, Bosh loves Canada, 30M, #1 option and all that noise. Carry on.
Of course the $30 million has bearing. How do think people stay rich? $30 million means as much as 3 million which means as much as $300000 to a guy that’s good with money. That’s why I’m rich and your poor. Ha Ha.
Sincerely,

@ Flux
“Just because to Joe Public 30M is more then their entire families will make in this lifetime and can’t wrap their mind on someone “leaving 30M on the table” doesn’t mean that millionaires think that way:”
This statement above explains why you will never be a millionaire. Any smart businessman would never leave money on the table. It’s all relative my friend. The desire to earn more is just as prevalent amongst millionaires as it is to those making milk money at the local five and dime.
Lastly, get a grip on reality. THERE IS NO BC CONSPIRACY!! The guy wants to win. He wants the recognition of being the GM that built a championship team and he wants to show the NBA that his employment as a GM has more to do with his merit, rather than, his last name.
Financially, yes. Although, there are probably some tax implications here as well.
In the world of basketball, no. Maybe if I would have throw in “NBA millionaire think that way”… as I clearly pointed out with Gilbert.
It’s funny how you make the point that its about money, but when you bring up BC its about winning.
Make up your mind.
Hey Fluxland
Guess What? As a GM you don’t get paid unless you win!!!
BTW, there is no distinction between millionaires dumbass! Winning a title will only lead to further recognition which could led to stronger earning potential later on in life. Taking a back seat to another star player effects potential earning power. Winning is nice, but maximizing earning potential is the overall goal (that is what agents do).
No, I’m pretty sure you get paid as a GM even if you don’t win. Let’s ask Dunleavy, Billy Knight, and Zeke…
I agree winning a title will lead to further recognition, but what role you played will be irrelevant. Shaq has played with how many top players… did he steal their shine? No. People care about winning, not what guy maximized his value. How many players have said “I have the money, the cars, the records, the all star appearances, the all nba teams, gold medals… but I have no ring.”
Please, son.
1. Bosh will stay
2. I doubt that Evans could be anything other than a throw in or a cap space guy in trade. The logic behind a team taking Evans vs Johnson is totally different.
Nobody would say give me Evans or give me Johnson.
3. Elvis
1. Nobody, it’s business. I’ve appreciated CB4 especially this year. I also like how the ball moves on offense when he’s not playing, cap space and draft picks.
2. Take this Reggie.
3. The real Milli Vanilli. Did they ever get to perform their own jams??
1) I’d be surprised if Bosh doesn’t leave in a S&T, but if he walks, it’s not really anybody’s fault. BC has said many times that he wouldn’t deal him if the Raptors were in playoff contention and they are. Everybody is saying it’s business and it’s true.
2) Reggie, only since the Raptors are showing they can play pretty well without him. And depending on what they’re getting back, it’s unlikely they’re losing a whole lot other then defence.
3) Eric B and Rakim would be awesome. If they could track down Organized Rhyme, that’d be even cooler.
If he walks for nothing how is it not Colangelo’s fault? Sure, you could say that Bosh “turned on the franchise” but at the end of the day somebody should’ve (if it even comes to that) anticipated that and done something about it. We break Babcock’s balls for getting two first rounders and expiring contracts for VC, but suddenly we’re OK if Bosh walks?
Its not as if Bosh leaving hasn’t been ‘anticipated’ … its been widely discussed for 2 years now.
Unlike the Vince situation there are no guarantees he is gone. Bosh has said he is undecided and is waiting to way his options. So BC is trying to keep him here. Vince just straight up wanted out and wasn’t going to try on the court, thereby forcing Babcock’s hand.
BC is trying… Babcock gave up.
How can you anticipate when there are so many factors at play? (Injuries, how other teams ahead of us fare, etc?)
These are several risks – many unknowns. It’s like blaming someone for the weather. If you believe these risks are high – then take the stand to trade Bosh now. I do not believe that is the right course of action.
Obvs. the market for trading him now has already been tested and people are trying to fleece BC like they have in the past. Players and GMs.
So, you hang onto him and hopefully build his value during the playoffs so if there’s a S&T you can argue he’s worth more; get better players in return.
Exactly … that’s what BC has been doing to make it look like Bosh is worth more than he is actually worth, and with all the talk about keeping him in Toronto and with Triano playing Bosh even for 40+ minutes to ensure a win with Bosh on the floor.
BC is trying mightily to enhance Bosh’s value to other teams so he can get more than fair value in any trade scenario .. soooo obvious.
That why my man is banging out monster minutes, when on a real team during the soft part of the schedule you would try to rest your best player(s) for the playoffs.
Hopefully he’s not burnt out by the playoffs because we will get the “BC got fleeced” special in return – scrubs, picks, glue factory headed vets and cash package.
Fluxland, does it not worry you that you’re on the same side of an argument as FAQ? It should.
If he does leave – there will be no question he turned his back on the franchise. It will mean he did not believe in what was being done here.
Hence, someone has not created a situation desirable enough for him stay. Same thing happened with VC – there is zero argument on this planet explaining why you do not doing everything you can, to keep VC. Epic Fail.
Not that it justifies his actions during the departure… but that will be the only difference between Bosh and him. Bosh’s divorce will be more civil and fans will never boo him, if he leaves.
1. Bosh; Colangelo is making decisions for the good of the team, Bosh is making decisions for the good of CB4 (as he should), but it’s up to him whether he does so in a way as to disadvantage the team in the least
2. I actually read the question unlike all the other responders… I would not do the deal (send both REg and Amir for no big in return).
3. Fat Boys
Actually, you didn’t read the question correctly at all. It reads, “However, he insists on including either Reggie or Amir even though you aren’t getting a big back in the deal. Do you do the deal? If so, who would you include of the 2 players?”
Note the words “either” and “or”.
Think about it, and re-consider before ripping into other commenters.
1. Colangelo has surrounded Bosh with enough talent to be competitive, and a young team, so there’s reason to believe this team will only improve. I’d say Colangelo has done his part to try and keep Bosh. If Bosh leaves, I won’t have any (well, many) hard feelings, as he’s had a good run and never gave up on the team (like another did). I won’t really blame anyone if he leaves.
2. I’d include Reggie, and I think it’s a no-brainer. Amir has contributed to the success of the team, Reggie hasn’t. Plus, Amir is only 22. It won’t come down to an either/or scenario, though. They’re different contracts pretty much ensures that. I do like the fact, though, that the Raptors have a redundancy at that position, because it does give them more options in trades.
3. Public Enemy
Young team usually means players with significant upside. The only player on our roster who fit that are DeRozan (and possibly Bargs.)
This is more comparable to the Knicks young core (Gallo and Jordan Hill) than say the Blazers or OKC.
So I’m not convinced this “young core” argument is so persuasive.
I’d say Jack will get better, Belinelli, Weems, possibly Wright, Johnson. Maybe not significantly, but enough to make a difference.
I’d say the players that could make the most impact by their improvement would be Belinelli and Johnson (and maybe Weems). I think Belinelli has the chance to be a very good player. On my blog I predicted he’d one day finish in the top 3 for best 6th man. He’s only 23 years old and has displayed a lot of skills. His biggest problem is consistency, which is a common problem with young players.
Johnson has made big improvements this year, and there’s no reason he can’t become a very good rotation player on a contender.
Weems has gone from a scrub many thought would be waived to a rotation player. He’s athletic, can pass, rebound, defend and has shown a better offense than expected.
Wright could make himself into a Bruce Bowen type of player if he can continue his improvement with the corner three.
The Knicks aren’t even a young team, really. Especially not in comparison to the Raptors. They’ve got 4 rotation players over 26, compared with the Raptors’ 2. And the average age for their rotation players is 26.1, which is pretty close to the league average.
I think Gallo could be really good. And who knows about Hill. Takes a while before you know if a big man is good in this league. So I think they both have upside.
Oh, I’m not saying that the Knicks have nothing, but they’ve only got a few young players that look to have much of a future in New York. Wilson Chandler and Gallo. TOney Douglas looks like he’ll end up being a pretty good players. Maybe Hill, but I didn’t like that pick from the beginning. And does anyone expect Nate to be a Knick next year?
Quite frankly, I’d take Bargnani, DeRozan, Belinelli, Wright, Weems and Johnson (all under 25) over Gallo, Chandler, Douglas and Hill in a second.
1. Yes I would blame Colangelo but I wouldn’t blame Bosh. Bosh has been a Raptor for 6 and a half straight seasons and had to endure putting up in losing situations and instability in managment and constant coaching chancges. Colangelo is in his fourth season and he still hasn’t been able to build a contender that would go deep into the playoffs. Its up to Colangelo as President and GM to convince Bosh to stick around.
2. I would wait to see who is coming in before I make that decision. If Reggie comes back to form then its worth to keep him for another season (he can also be used as an expiring contract next season). Amir is obviously the better choice at this point to keep (being younger and a better scorer), however his contract is done by season end and he will sign where he gets the most money and most minutes which may not be Toronto.
3. Its Hammer time!!
I lean towards blaming Bosh unless he creates an awesome team somewhere else.. a snt for Bynum which helped us.. I wouldnt force a snt though.. let him go, and others will come for the money.. Lee puts up similiar numbers and only wants a 10 mil/5year contract.. we’d fill the PF position pretty quick.. we wouldnt have the best player like bosh, but wed have more money for a deeper team with the smartest, most strategic gm.
Offer amir a contract.. if no.. send him packing and hope he develops like the pistons wanted him to.
Toronto is the fourth biggest market behind new york, la and chicago.. it also has among the richest owners with the deepest pockets who are slowly being convinced to invest in this team. A tax paying team as colangelo put it.
Good points here, Alt Raps. I’ll give it a shot.
1. I don’t think we’re gonna have to worry about it, as I think it’s 90% that CB resigns. That being said, if he doesn’t, I can only blame CB if he says he’ll stay, and then bolts (ie. T-Mac). BC has done almost everything in his power to build a winner around CB; the team just needs some time to gel, so I don’t think we can blame BC either.
2. Tough to answer this, as they are 2 different players; different skill sets, age, upside, health, and contract status. If I thought I could retain Amir, then I trade Evans (if we can convince someone to take him), and if the budget has to go in another direction, I keep Evans and sell high on Amir.
3. Digital Underground
I’m going to go backwards
3. Stompin Tom
2. First it depends on who is included in the nice package.
But I am inclined to let go Evans, as Amir has been great off the bench, and we have Rasho to back him up. Amir will be more valuable than Evans down the road, and he seems to be in line with the development of other Raptors. To maybe have a club that can get to the championships more than one year.
However, it depends who is involved on both ends of the deal.
1. I blame Bosh! I don’t think anything bad will happen. He is a top notch professional and most definitely respects the organization that allowed him to blossom into the star he is. He will not “Vince-out” on us! I honestly don’t think he’s going anywhere. It is just a great story for the NBA tv dudes and all you bloggers! I am going crazy with the stories and if I see that same sentence “….free agent class 2010….Lebron James, D. Wade, and Chris Bosh all become……” repeated again I will jump!
1. Part of the dream once you become the best player on your high school team is to become a star in the NBA. Chris has been there done that. He’ll never hurt for cash and neither will his grandchildren. Next on his dream list is an MVP and an NBA championship. I know this will cause some guffaws from the self proclaimed gurus out there but this year if he continues to play with the fire in his belly and the Raptors continue to beat the elite teams and keep their winning % up there Chris Bosh should receive some serious consideration for MVP. If that happens he may think Toronto will be the best option for his future. If he decides differently you can’t blame the GM for that.
2. Wouldn’t do the deal.
3. Old school band that I saw twice and loved was Led Zeppelin.
1. I would blame Colangelo for some ridiculous trades that deprived us of our assets and made it almost impossible to build a proper cotender around bosh (The JO trade firmly comes to mind)
2. Hands down, I would trade Reggie. I feel Amir is the superior player, is younger and could improve. Another aspect that I dont think people consider is that Reggie is on the book next year taking up almost 6 million in cap space. If we dont resign Amir, by subtraction we could have up to 21 million more in cap space (which would be around 41 million committed, I think), enough to add a elite role player or a quasi star. Though, I feel the best option would be to retain bosh.
3. The Expansion Raptors team vs. The Expansion Grizz team. Who wouldnt want to see Big Oliver Miller one last time!
2. i wasnt being clear. I am assuming Bosh is in the trade, or why else would another team take reggie?
What ridiculous trades did Colangelo make that deprived the Raptors of their assets? Are you talking about Roy Hibbert? Has he replaced Charlie Villaneuva as the player whose talents grow exponentially the farther away from the Raptors he gets? Yes, he’s a very nice player, but he’s a 23 mpg player on a really bad team. And is he a better prospect that Amir? Besides, he wouldn’t be getting nearly the burn on the Raptors, especially with their style of play.
And didn’t he make some equally ridiculous trades that GAVE the Raptors some assets? Belinelli? Amir? Weems? Wright?
I’d say he’s done pretty well.
1. Bosh inks a max contract one way or another…either he stays or goes via sign and trade, I’m not concerned.
2. Reggie.
3. The Treacherous Three.
1) First off, I would never blame myself. Sure I could trade him right now – and still might – but someone would have to really bowl me over with an offer at this point. Something truly insane, like Bosh for Brook Lopez, Devin Harris, Snookie and J-Wow.
The team is playing well enough that it’s worth the gamble to see how deep they can go in the playoffs. If Bosh leaves, that’s his perogative. I know I’ve surrounded him with more talent and youth than Cleveland has with Lebron, or Miami has with Wade, or Chicago has with Rose. If Bosh can’t get us past the first round with this team, than maybe we’re better off in the log run without him maxed out.
Would I resent Bosh if he left, after all I’ve done to keep him? Naaaaah. That’s life man. He’s been busting his ass for this team for years now, and is working hard for an opportunity to finally control his own destiny. I certainly know what it’s like to want a change of scenery. That’s why I left Phoenix.
I’d rather have Bosh go to another team happy, than commit to the Raptors for six years solely for the money. I don’t think that’s the mentality a true champion has.
2) I can imagine trading Reggie for another role player. But with Amir, I would definitely be looking for an upgrade. Like I said, I’m a buyer. I’m not really interested in a lateral trade, or bench players for bench players. There would be no point. We’re playing .600 ball right now.
3)Arrested Development.
Would be an interesting poll Q.
Strictly based on the quality of the players/team (not the location of the team) which squad would you rather have:
1. Heat without Wade.
2. Cavs without LeBron.
3. Raps without Bosh.
Raps without Bosh hands down. They win a seven game series against either one of those teams without their respective Stars.
Did you see how hobbled Miami was without Beasley? They could barely do anything. And we had multiple injuries at different times and were still able to play high caliber Bball.
And virtually everything the Cavs does is through Lebron. You take him away and that team has to relearn how to play basketball again.
Is this true? Mo/Delonte/AP, Jamario, Vaerejao/Hickson, Shaq/Z?
Mo Williams/Delonte West/AP is a better PG/SG rotation than ours. Varejao can guard Bargs in single coverage, he is extremely fleet of foot. Combine that with Shaq, Z and Hickson, and I feel they have a clear advantage at PF/C. Basically they run a frontcourt of Varejao/Shaq. Presumably Bargs has to guard Shaq, which leaves him too tired to be effective against Varejao on the other end.
Our only advantage is now at SF. Does that balance losing at the four other spots?
I don’t think it is even a close series…they win handily. Plus they are still a good defensive team without him, while we suck at defense.
I agree though, Heat w/o Wade is awful.
While I agree that the Cavs are better this season, I have to disagree that they’re guard rotation is better than the Raptors. I like Jack and Calderon over Williams and Gibson. It’s pretty even, at best. As for the SG’s, I don’t know if West/Parker is any better than Wright, DeRozan, Weems and Belinelli. Wright’s the best defender, and the Raptors have more athleticism. Plus, the Raptors have more chances of finding someone who’s going to have a big scoring night. The Raptors depth certainly helps them here.
I agree with the front court, though. Shaq, Ilgauskus and Varejao would give Bargnani, Johnson and Nesterovic fits.
Mo was on Milwaukee – and he gets worse numbers on Cleveland! He only ever got all-star consideration because LBJ carries his team on his back.
whoa.. nobody on cleveland knows how to guard bargs at the top of his game.
I don’t see how Bargs is effective against Varejao, at all. Varejao has better footspeed than Bargs; Bargs cannot beat him off the dribble. He also cannot take him in the post. Varejao struggles guarding people stronger than him or faster than him. But Bargs is neither.
Varejao is not entirely comfortable guarding at the three point line. I’ve watched him a fair bit over the years and he doesn’t like guarding out there. Bargnani has played pretty well against Cleveland in two games this season. I think he’d do fine against Varejao, but I’d still pick Cleveland over the Raptors.
For just this year? The Cavs. They’re a veteran teams and most of the rotation players have lots of big game playoff experience.
Longterm, I’d take the Raptors in a second.
It’s gonna be Wade + Bosh .. or .. LeBron + Bosh .. somewhere in the USA and either Wade or LeBron will be on their own and suffer..!!!
Bosh is sitting pretty now because Amare has openly mused he may very well play out his option and stay with PHX … and this makes Bosh even that much more attractive as the only PF worthy of a max contract +++ big endorsement contracts in the USA.
Even if BC offers Bosh a super-max contract to stay, Bosh will not be playing with Wade or LeBron .. which we all know he wants to do because he wants to win a Championship on a stacked team most likely in the East.
Maybe BC could attract Wade or LeBron to Toronto … ya think ..??!!!!
I’ve talked to Danny Ferry and Pat Riley about it. The only way I could reel in another max contract is through a sign and trade, and no one on the Raptors, including Bosh, can come even close to replacing the brand equity that both Wade and Lebron gives their respective teams.
It doesn’t help that Ferry and Riley are really proud, distinguished assholes. They’d rather chop off their left nut than trade Lebron or Wade to me and a bunch of Canadians.
Could you imagine facilitating a trade to Canadians, let alone a conference rival? Can you imagine how much it would damage Lebron or Wade’s brand as American sports heroes?
Trust me. Americans are insane. It’s one thing to start off on a Canadian team and stick it out. It’s another thing for an American to CHOOSE Canada over America, considering that Lebron and Wade can play on any team they want. It would be perceived as unpatriotic.
Sure and which one of them is going to sign the lower contract for the “honour” of playing with the “star”. lol None of those guys is taking a nickel less than the max $130m they can get from their own teams.
Those “big” endorsements deals are a part of your “big” imagination.
“Even if BC offers Bosh a super-max contract to stay, Bosh will not be playing with Wade or LeBron .. which we all know he wants to do because he wants to win a Championship on a stacked team most likely in the East.”
Huh? Apparently you are privy to inside information that we are all not. I wasn’t aware Bosh wanted to win a Championship on a stacked team, probably in the East. COuld you direct me to the link where you read this?
So what you are saying, is that Bosh will leave Toronto because he wants to play with Wade or LeBron. There are only two teams that can sign both: Miami and New York (maybe). Interesting. You’ve not only narrowed it down to two teams, but if both LeBron and Wade both re-sign with their own team (the most likely scenario), then Bosh WILL be going to Miami.
I just want to be clear on your predictions.
If you’re strictly thinking short term, than I think you could make a case that the Cavs are more competitive without Lebron than we are without Bosh.
But is there any Cavs player other than Lebron that I’d want on my team in five years? Maybe Mo and Vaerejao. But every else on that roster is either too fat, too old or too insane. Although Big Z’s contract is looking pretty sexy these days.
Balls,
Bryan Colangelo
-No One, The NBA is a Business, and in saying that.. Bosh is staying, you don’t walk away from 30 Mil offered by a playoff team with this many pieces
-Reggie, Bias i know, but Amir is the athlete of the two, Hands down.
- DITC( big L
- I don’t blame either one. Both of them are extraordinary in what they do. I would like Bosh to stay but as long as he handles the situation above board and doesn’t leave us out to dry, he’s got to do what’s right for him.
- Reggie…love the guy but Amir could be special.
- Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff…he said with a smirk.
1. Bosh because he knows how much he means to the franchise
2. Reggie fo sho
3. Biz markie
1) I’m not a BC ripper, but ultimately, the blame rests on BC in a situation like that. By not trading Bosh earlier, he’s saying he has faith he can re-sign Bosh; by Bosh not re-signing, it’s clear that BC has failed.
Also, it’s a two way street. If the organization can trade away loyal Raptors like Alvin Williams and call it business, then the players should be entitled to the same when they decide to leave. The key is whether the player has deliberately hurt the team. McGrady said he would consider staying, but when the time came, he refused to speak with Grunwald. Carter’s play toward the end of his tenure with the Raptors made it harder to obtain fair compensation. Bosh hasn’t done anything wrong yet.
2) Yes, and Reggie.
3) For shits and giggles, New Kids on the Block.
Implying the Raps were not loyal to Boogie is a stretch. Alvin was waived undered a mutually agreed upon buyout after sitting out 2 years with career ending injuries at full pay.
‘trade away loyal Raptors like Alvin Williams’
that never happened.
1. BC because he should be offering him a max contract before the deadline and if he says no you have to trade him… You have too..
Bosh should sign it take his max money if things don’t work out he can always demand a trade to a contender…You just can’t let him walk for nothing.
2. Reggie unless you know for a fact Amir is out of here.
3. A Tribe Called Quest
This is where i post a reply merely to kiss BC ass.. yes america hates canadians… they give us no coverage on nba.com ( i log in religiously via phone) infact, we get no coverage by canadian media, we have to watch 20 minutes of hockey shmolockey to get to 1 minute of bball highlights. Thats why the raptors have the biggest online fanbase! WOOT! they instigate the undersized gallanari has the defence drawing potential that bargnani does.. d’antoni was doubling bosh at the 3 point line, only to make a pale comparison (bahaha..) They want to shut us down. You dont see us accusing the nets of playing yi for the sole purpose of chinese viewers..(hoping to bring in the 30 million that yao does)… You will not see Nowitsky playing for Germany. Does Kobe Bryant know how to speak Italian? I think so… I wonder why…
sorry that amer/cana is an amazing topic that i just want to address very very thoroughly to every single american dude posting that bosh is leaving just because, um were canadian?… we dont pay with wampum..
1. neither. if bosh wants to take less money and play with bron/dwade for a shot at a champoionship, and/or a s&t wouldn’t bring us anything worth the money, then i can’t blame either. it’s business. if he leaves, at least he was a pro about it.
2. reggie, only because we’ve already seen amir’s impact on the team. that and he’s younger with more upside. but this would only matter if we’re getting a starter in return.
i’d also like to add…another great discussion would be: who would you like traded for bosh if he decides to leave?
1) If I don’t blame Bosh for leaving. He has played hard for us since day one and if he thinks he will have a better time some where else, so be it. Thank you for all the memories and wish you the best Bosh.
As far as Colangelo goes: I think he is doing the best he can with this team.We like it or NOT , true or false, there is image of Toronto in US and among US BPlayers that this city is all about Hockey and curling and noone cares about BBall here and it is dead end and …. I know we hate to hear it but it is true especially with having stars like Tracy, Vinny Baby and Davis leaving us and … So this makes it tough to get talent into this team. I think he is doing great ( BC) and if he couldn’t keep Bosh, no one else could have.
2)I will not do it Unless we are geting some good in return.
3) Dream Warriors, Organized Rhyme, Rascalz, The Philosopher Kings, Snow, Shaggy….
3) Fraggle Rock. Wrap your mind around that.
1. I guess you cant blame either. But may be its for the better. May be you can’t build a team around Bosh as your max player. Maybe he is actually better as a second option? Who knows how things turn out. Its a lot about team chemistry, balance, and good drafting/scouting. The point is that in the end, being a contender may not just have to to do with the rest of the team, but also may have to do with Bosh not being the type of franchise player that can really take a team to the finals. Find Bosh that guy, and may be he will stay. May be he wont.
May be we will be better without him as long as we get something back. I mean let’s be super honest. How happy would we be to have a good explosive off-guard, a solid defensive centre, clutch small forward, solid PG play and Bargs at PF. Do we actually need Bosh in this scheme? I think you might end up with a better team without him. I think currently we have to keep both Barganani and Bosh because Bargs is our insurance if Bosh stays and signs an extension. But in the long run I look at their games and wondering if they actually complement each other’s games. If we can trade bosh for value, and get some one more suited to play along side Bargnani it may be well worth it. The reverse can bet true as well.
2. It’s a tough one. Do we want to win now or later? Im sure in the end Reggie is better for the present. Amir is still raw. What does our franchise player think?
3. I second Dream Warriors
*I mean Bargs in insurance if Bosh leaves. but them our real trek will start i think
2) That trade would never happen unless BC lost his marbles or had a turnaround trade set up to bring in a quality forward. The Raps never have enough rebounding and still really don’t so I don’t think they’ll send out 2/5 of their front court for no return in size. Unless it’s Gerald Wallace.
Think of it this way – let’s say Wade, James and Bosh all make it to the end of the season without signing an extension. So now there are three max free agents on the market. Everyone goes for James and D-Wade, and Bosh is likely an afterthought for the most part, except for in Toronto…I don’t think any other team is going to offer a max contract to Bosh, unless James and Wade are off the market. By that time, hopefully Bosh has realized that Toronto is his best option both financially and competitively.
Only if there was the fabled collusion at the Olympics will we see Bosh move, because no other team will have max money on the table, with a decent enough playoff team to boot, other than the Raptors and the Heat. And the Heat will be coveting LeBron before Bosh anyways.
1) Bosh stays, Bosh leaves, life goes on. I wouldn’t want him to leave, but I have to admit I’m a little curious to see what life would be like without him, if it came to that. A slightly worse team, with slightly better cap flexibility – it would all depend on what BC did to follow-up.
2) Evans, no doubt. He’s less versatile than Johnson and has more years on his contract. Exception made if BC didn’t think he’d be able to re-sign Johnson at the end of the season.
3) Rob Base and DJ EZ-Rock for lolz, or the Pharcyde.
