Monta Ellis didn't just damage his leg in the mo-ped, I think he bumped his
head as well pretty hard, which explains all his useless talking.

"It must also be conceded that the current Raptors will not be a high playoff team in the near or far future..."

How can you presume anything in the far future? I'm pretty sure Colangelo is not planning to fail year after year.

You're like the anti-Doug Smith. According to him there is always 0% of a change happening ( cough...Smitch...sign and trade...Pops...cough)and according to you there is always 100% of a change happening.

The only thing we can actually concede is that BC and Bosh have had discussions about Bosh's future and both are open to helping the other get as much as they can - if he stays or if he goes. We can concede this because BC has openly admitted as much. Anyting else is just speculation.

So many people "conceded" that Nash would not re-sign in Phoenix and that he would follow Dantoni. Yeah...

Anyway, personally I still think a lot will be based on how the Raps do this year. I don't think Bosh has actually decided yet. But at least he seems to be open with Colangelo so hopefully we don't get Mcgrady'd.

Soooooo obvious.

Deng and Turkoglu play the same position, no need for both. Also, having Bargnani play PF freaks me out. he doesn't have the defensive foot speed (from what I've seen so far) to keep up with more active 4's in the league.

Ask yourselves this question: "Why would an American superstar max player want to play in Toronto Canada for the next 6 years ... and with this bunch of Euro players and dispensable rejects from other U.S. teams???"

These superstars don't just play for the money, the play for championships and fame in their home country. There is nothing in Toronto that would induce a max money American superstar to play for the Raptors ... and the t.h. fans can forget about their outpouring of "love" for their beloved hero.

What BC will most likely be doing is picking up several good players with the departure of Bosh ... because the coaching philosophy will be team play and not dependent on one all-star player to make the Raptors a playoff contending team.

Say bye bye to Bosh, because he's going for max money with an American team ... sooner or later ... believe it.

Long time reader, infrequent contributor as of late.

FAQ, given that you are a mind reader, omnipotetent and all knowing, (seeing how you know what Bosh and BC are thinking and doing), could you tell me the winning #'s for the MAX lottery, and what my 2009 bonus will be.

Thanks in advance.

I too think we could do better than the proposed Miami trade.

FAQ - Interesting theories. You could be right. Obvious statement time, but fans need reminding - just because you have cap space to sign a maximum contract player doesn't mean you have to. Too often fans, and some GM's, treat maximum contract space like some expiring gift card at the Home Depot.

It doesn't have to be. If the player available to sign isn't a maximum contract player in your mind as a GM and team, you can wait, keep the cap space for future signings, deals or trades. And I think maximum contract should be given to only the elite few - Wade, Lebron, Howard, Kobe ... - "superstars" who bring consistent results like long playoff runs, championships, merchandise sales, television contracts ... not to the next tier of "great" players - the category Bosh falls into in my opinion.

I agree, I think there's too much pressure/responsibility on Hedo Turkoglu to be the fourth quarter guy.

Hedo Turkoglu is the guy who who creates a true balance between the other options -- Bosh + Bargnani + Calderon + Hedo -- with his mix of scoring ability + passing ability. He rounds out the Raptors offense and helps make it devastatingly effective.

The Raptors should just continue to run their normal offense late in games rather than putting it all on Hedo's back ... I think that would be more effective.

Also, if Hedo Turkoglu is to be used as a fourth quarter option ... he needs to be used in high pick and rolls for his passing/scoring rather than isolation plays. Turkoglu is not an effective isolation based scorer but he is a very good pick and roll player (either by scoring himself or helping create space/shots for other players).
