Only one real close call in Round One, which was no real surprise. Looking at how the second round shapes up, I wouldn’t expect too many close calls here either, but the readers of the Republic are always one to surprise.
Same as the first round, each head to head will last 24-48 hours, depending on how close the vote is.
17 Raps
The Oak vs JYD matchup is a tough one. The rest are easy. Especially sending Tracy Murray to the third round. Vince Carter is not the best Raptor ever. He may have been our best player, but anyone who quits on a franchise should be never be crowned its best.
Alvin Williams is my vote to win it all…since there’s no ‘6 Foul’ Archibald on the list.
I don’t think best Raptor ever, means most loyal. I think it should be judged by impact on the team.
Even if you take all the bad that came with Carter, the good so overwhelms the bad that he still becomes best Raptor ever hands down.
The only way Bosh wins it is if he stays, but if Bosh bolts, betweem the two of them, I would say Carter had more impact.
That’s a pretty fair assessment. My take on Bosh is that if he can lead the Raptors this season past the first round and stays, he’ll overtake Carter.
After all, Vince only managed to take us to the second round before bolting.
I disagree. Best RAPTOR ever does include loyalty. It includes every facet of playing for our team. Most skilled Raptor ever is a different story. Sure, VC put Toronto on the NBA map but he also crippled us upon his departure for years.
Would you take him back on your team? Absolutely not. Being the best player this franchise has ever seen has much more to it than ability. I would much rather watch a guy play his heart out every night on every possession than watch a guy waste his talent and quit on his team and his city.
The best Raptors are still loved when they come to town. Not booed. I would take Alvin, JYD, and MoPete over Carter any day.
T murray has my vote . Great players are like the captain of the ship , they are the first on and last off . you dont stop playing with effort just because things are hard, you stick through it and do your best to make your team better . i would have Tmac on my team over Vince. even when his team was the bottom dweller of the east Tmac still brought it night in night out. Carter failed to be a franchise player . look at Dwade in Miami even after Shaq and friends won the Cup and split Dwade still carries the the Heat to the playoffs year in and year out yet Vince after Kidd and RJ left the Nets VC couldnt do jack accept recieve ali-oop passes to win games.
Plus are we judge from there time as Raps or as players in there careers coz some guys in the second round dont deserve to be there based on there time with the raps. and oh yes MoPete got my vote too but i like some idiots are going to vote for Bargs into the next round
Alvin vs Chris should be the final two but AD would be a close thrid coz of how he picked up the team when VC was playing like a woose getting injured every chance he got !!
Is there a reason guys like Mark Jackson and Chris Childs never made the first round?
Players had to play at least a season and a half as a Raptor, then scrubs were tossed (hello Yogi Stewart), then we did a draw. Some had to be cut otherwise we would be here until Christmas. I would have voted for John Thomas.
CB4 and VC15 in different brackets? Hmmm. ;o
Would it be too much to ask for the final percentages also.
no problem.
AP and Boogie going head-to-head…dont do this to me guys hahaha
seriosuly….i loved boogie…loved what he did for the franchise and hat he can still do….but I named my son after AP, man I wish he got more support in this thing..,.it should be a lot closer than 25-75%
Is there any way that you guys can post this bracket up in PDF format? I want to seed all the players and then pass it around my dorm room to morons who haven’t heard of half the people on it, charging $20 a sheet. Right now, I’ve got AP as the 13 seed and Boogie as an 11. Should be an exciting battle, no?
I really think Bargs vs Mo pete will be really close.
Also Bosh vs Tmac will be close considering if people think of their careers or their time in Toronto. Altraps can you please clarify please?
I thought it was stated at the onset that best can mean whatever you want it to mean, whether your favorite, the most talent, zaniest quotes or simply the best hair. Maybe I’m confusing it with another poll tournament, but if it was simply the player who performed the best, whether during their Raptors stint or career overall, we may as well just have started at the semi-finals.
I really like both Alvin Williams and Anthony parker.
damon/rose is close for me
