The Rasho Nesterovic deal was done today.
1 year, just under $2million, giving the Raptors a one year rental and providing the opportunity to still have financial flexibility next summer. My understanding is they have used the bi-annual exception on the big galoot.
Looking forward to seeing the lumbering mass “running” the court this season. Welcome home.

I do not see either of them playing at all next year. I know getting rid of Bank is almost next to impossible and the rest of the team are all players who can play and share the load and the only two outsiders are George and Roko and ummm, maybe OBrynt but we need another back up big anyway in this case of engery to Bosh or AB.
Jack, Rasho, Evans, Wright, maybe DD, possibly Delfino. who else thinks our bench could beat the Milwaukee Bucks?

Great Signing Bryan Colangelo. My Nightmares of O’bryant being the 2nd string Center had me on the verge of vomiting. But i have one concern it seems like you don’t like aggressive Dogs cause it lookes like your about to put down the British bulldog aka Pops Mensah-Bonsu.

well I love the Rasho move , i believe he is one of a select few C that have a descent mid range shot great ball IQ and good hands .Plus he love it here !! now i say let go of Pat he didnt impress me in the summer league at all against a bunch of rookie and Dleague wanna be`s. Sign Pops for his energy to me he has bird man like qualities with a better shot. plus he can climb the ladder pretty well to me he is the kinda guy who will repay you for giving him a chance . as for Del well lets get his shoulder checked out get him to workout abit and see . max deal for him if he is good 3.5mill. otherwise lets go into training camp and see if we need to add anything.
ps. bring back joey G and we are good to go . but I think Im missing something here who is backup for Hedo ? there are positions that are over loaded and others that are line

My wife met Rasho at the YYZ during his first stint with the Raptors during the off season when they were both flying out and were standing in line. He was surprised that some lady knew who he was and could pronounce his name properly (I am so proud!). She said his son was there as a baby, and that he was the biggest baby she had ever seen. There was guy in line with her and she started spouting off all of this Raptors knowledge. They were both so impressed! ( I am so proud of wifey to this day!)

Hometown discount all the way. Nice to see us use it to our advantage with the European players. Very shrewd of Colangelo to build the team this way. Why not be the best team in the NBA for euros to play for versus the reluctant choice of a lot of misguided Americans. The good news is that winning on the court and a deep run in the playoffs will quickly change Toronto’s persona, and our player pool will increase significantly in the years to come.
the big guy took a pay cut to sign with the raptors. a number of european teams could have signed him for a lot more and there were also other NBA teams that were interested. he’s a true character guy.
I think the fans in ACC should give him a great wellcome in the first game when he steps in the floor. WELLCOME HOME BIG MAN

Dont think he should play too much because there arent enough minutes. But he should be efficient in his limited time. And hes fantastic insurance barring god forbid injuries.
I would love to drop obryant and banks for scrubs who would actually work hard to make a team. Doing so would not only give us a good team on paper, but it would also give us a really great group of people. Players youd feel good rooting for. Esp. because of how much they all seem to give back to the community.

hopefully, we could have one more signee to deepen our wings. i would prefer bringing back joey over delfino. joey was our best defender, and will be a solid backup to hedo, and will not be a threat to the growth of our youngins like derozan. i’m just wondering how less will the raptors offer him.
we are already paying jaret jack 5million/year, so i dont think it is reasonable to pay delfino the same amount. jaret jack was brought not only as backup point guard insurance after roko’s disappointing summer league, but also to keep bosh happy and reunited with his college buddy.
cant wait for next season! i’m now expecting the raptors to be at least a 40-win team, and take the 2nd spot in the division after those celtics.
Joey has never been the best defender on any team and he will never will. Don’t confuse his ability to be physical on the defensive end with being a good defender.
It’s great to see Rasho back in town!!! He is brining much needed help at C.
Memphis has declined qualifying offer to Hakim Warrick as their trying to sign Allen Iverson. I looked at their depth chart and they are in much needed PG. Luckily we have 5 players that are capable of playing that position – Calderon/Jack/Ukic/Douby/Banks. This makes Ukic expandable. Now I know some of you will be angry, but Ukic had dissapointing Summer League and with Jack on board he’ll barely see any minutes. I think Douby has better chance. So I think B.C. should do a sign and trade with Memphis. Here’s how the trade might go down:
To Memphis: Roko Ukic (they get their 3rd string, since Conely and Iverson are ahead of him) *I’m also assuming that Iverson will get 1 year deal. Ukic will have time to work on his game, since it’s very unlikely he’ll be getting any minutes as a Raptor
To Toronto: Warrick/Pops/Powe *choose one. Memphis can re-sign one of those guys to same amount as Roko Ukic’s contract and trade.
This is win-win situation for both teams in my opinion.

I like the Warrick for Ukic sign and trade idea… bur don’t think memphis see much value in ukic.
i don’t know why you think Warrick will get paied as much as Roko ??!!
Now we have a very solid front line. Good back-up and great insurance incase Bosh or Bargnani goes down for a couple of games.
I love having Rasho back. Also, remember that a good chunk of our back up center minutes will go to.Bosh when he is paired with Evans. Bosh should be up near 38 minutes a night, some with Bargs, some with Evans, a few with Rasho, and the occasional small ball line up when matchups permit Bosh, Hedo, DD, Jack and Jose or the like for short spurts
