AltRaps’ 3-point shot

Lets hear ya…

1) I think most agree the Pizza Pizza promotion sucks. Suggest a promotion that could take its place.

2) The whole Twitter thing between Bosh and Charlie V…good, bad, annoying?

3) Summer league has not solved the question of Roko Ukic. What do you suggest we do with him? Primary backup to Jose, 3rd stringer, D-League….?

81 Raps

  1. 1. Hold team to under 100 points Pizza for all. Turning a positive out of a negative.

    2. It is what it is, I support Chris but really just think it is self promotion/ fun for both.

    3. Ukic has done nothing to suggest he is ready to be anything we can count on. Thankful (If Indy does not match) Problem has been solved.

    • AltRaps says:

I’ve always been a big supporter of your idea for #1. I brought it up during season ticket holder surveys, dropped hints to people I know, but the marketing department doesn’t want to budge.

    • Mash says:

I totally agree here. I was just going to suggest the same thing, and BAM!, the first post nails down what I think needs to be done.

I have an inkling that many Raps fans also share this line of thinking.

    • dsl says:

I’d argue that defense doesn’t get casual fans excited. If your goal is promotion, then you don’t want it to be tied to lower scoring basketball. Admittedly, I don’t have any stats in front of me (nor do I really care), but the defensive teams I’ve watched also happen to be mediocre to awful to watch on offense (Cavs, old school Knicks & Heat, KO Raps).

  2. NC says:

    1) I like the pizza promotion until the fans begin booing.

    2) Good for Bosh love … annoying when my entire page is taken up by recruitment tweets.

    3) 3rd stringer / primary back up when Jack plays the 2.

  3. Doc says:

    1) “Punch Hadi in fun berries & gigglestick” promotion – Three punches for a loonie with donations going to Charlie V’s contributions towards shoes for needy children in the Dominican Republic

    2) Ridiculous, but entertaining especially this afternoon.

    3) Roko, 3rd stringer and extra insurance incase Jose goes down again.

    • AltRaps says:

The quote in #1 needs to be made into a shirt and handed out at holiday gatherings.

      • Doc says:

That would a cool “T” to rock at the ACC next season. You have my permission to copyright that saying just as long as I get a free t-shirt out of it. LOL

  4. Chaun says:

    1) Screw Pizza Pizza I eat real food.
    2) I like it! It`s only annoying to you old folks =) (Don’t shoot me)
    3) Put him in Bosh or CV video for now. Next season I`ll pimp him off to the Tdot streets. Otherwise he’s in D-League

  5. sillz says:

    1) See Doc’s comment above
    2) Slightly annoying but more bearable after reading Alt’s comments
    3) D-league. Too early to give up on the kid, but watching summer league with him trying to call the shots has been frustrating, and I think more playing time would help him work out the kinks. Before a ticket to the D-league someone has to tell him to get his hands off his hips though, for the umpteenth time.

  6. BC'S MASTER PLAN says:

    1. 100 points = lapdances for everyone.
    2. Anoying
    3. 3rd string/d-league

  7. The Season is Lost says:

The Pizza promotion is pathetic. There should not be a promotion. I think the following should occur. If the raptors wins, the player of the game gets to cream pie a fan in the face. If the Raptors lose, a fan drawn out of a hat will get to cream pie the player he desires (Too bad Jamario isn’t a dino anymore) P.S. I have a nice groin injury to share with RR. Please send me an email so somebody can post it.

The twitter issue is not really an issue in my opinion. It is actually very healthy and keeps the fans posted. So what if it is for personal promotion. You have a choice to tune in or not.

Roko Ukic. Let a euroleague team buy out his 1,350,000 contract and sign Royal Ivey as a third string guard that can actually get to the rim and provide a spark off the bench. If Roko stays, string him up and invite fans to a mishoui as his going away party.

  8. Bearvon says:

    1. Pizza for holding people under 100

    2. Fucking stupid. Chris Bosh the person seems like a major douche but I am getting back into cb the player. Hes not funny and he seems to love ultimate fighting. Id prefer he loses to Sitwell. How many other “max” players would lose to that guy?

    3. Poor roko. Put him at the end of the bench and let the coaches keep helping him. Douby should be ahead of him on the depth chart though.

  9. Nick says:

    1) I agree 100% on the idea of if we hold a team to under 100 points then its pizza pizza time !

    2) who cares, let chris be chris

    3) Roko will find his game eventually, just give him time and let him learn, keep him 3rd string, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE indiana dont match the raps offer with jack!

    • Mash says:

If you want him as 3rd string, then I don’t see why you have issues with the Raps signing Jarrett Jack, who would obviously be 2nd string.

Douby is the one they’d have to keep on the injured reserve/waive to make room for Ukic as the 3rd stringer.

  10. Sam says:

    1) individual incentives are the way to go, so something like – 10 rebounds for Bargs = free pizza; Reggie Evans makes 2 15-footers = free pizza; Roko shoots over 40% from the field = free pizza; DeRozan gets the line 10 times = free pizza

    2) you can ignore twitter you know

    3) 3rd string pg and expiring contract. happy to see him prove me wrong

  11. 1. Another vote for holding a team to under 100.
    2. EXTREMELY annoying. I’m sick of them both.
    3. 3rd stringer, assuming Jarrett Jack is the backup. If Roko shows development in practice or in games (if he gets in), then give him a few more minutes, and give Jack some more minutes at the 2.

  12. dfp says:

    1) Pizza when the Raptors out rebound the other team.

    2) Makes no difference, it’s the off-season

    3) 3rd string, but with a chance to compete for the backup job.

  13. Mash says:

    1. One alternate idea, and one I think might be wise to implement this season would be for Tim Horton’s to try and re-establish it’s Canadian-ness (since it is planning to operate under Tim Horton’s – not Wendy’s – shareholder approval to be set for September).

I’m thinking the obvious – something tied to “Double-Doubles” – maybe if two Raptors complete a double-double (a double double-double?), Tim Horton’s could offer a free coffee the morning after the game to those in attendance.

    2. While I don’t have any issues with the Twitter Race, I think it would have been cool for Chris Bosh to do it with one of his current teammates (I’m thinking Jose Calderon, personally). The two teammates could then recruit some of the other Raptors players and it could be a great way to build team solidarity. As it stands now, it just looks like a shadow of Kutcher vs. CNN.

    3. Roko Ukic has improved slightly on some of his weaknesses (i.e. 3 point shot), but his play has still left a lot to be desired. I think with the impending arrival of Jarrett Jack, along with Douby’s strong play, it could spell trouble for Ukic. I think he’s worth keeping on the roster and getting a few minutes of burn, since he’s still young and is only entering his 2nd NBA season. If he doesn’t show signs of stronger consistency by the second half of his 3rd season, then the writing is on the wall for him to be let go. I like him though. I hope it works out.

    • Mash says:

Of course, the Timmy’s thing helps Tim Horton’s more than anyone else here, and I’m not sure how many people enjoy Timmies, compared to Second Cup, Starbucks, Timothy’s, etc. But to mix it up and offer something else, I’d offered it as an alternative.

The promotion I’d still go for is the one from James the top (and elsewhere), about the Raps holding the opposition below 100 points. I’m hopng that maybe it’ll motivate our team to play a bit of D, or else no one will ever get pizza.

      • Hardcore Raps says:

Yes this TImmies idea is amazing!!!

As for Timmies patrons compared to other coffee joints…. Tim Hortons market share is absolutely ridiculous in Canada.

    • Marc says:

I love the double double idea. I might actually use that coupon.

  14. msmith04 says:

    1) It is my understanding that at least a couple other teams in the league have promotions like this (score 100 get a free ____). However, I don’t think that justifies the booing when the Raps get 98 or 99 points in a win and it surely doesn’t justify beating a team 102-78 and the fans go wild in garbage time when the Raps score their 100th point with 38 seconds left. I also think the PI-ZZA!!! PI-ZZA!!! chants are pretty bad.

How about this brain buster…Raps win, get free pizza. Too complex?

Or maybe since the Raptors take great pride in their three point shooting ability, you could do 5 3-pointers spelling P-I-Z-Z-A during the game, just like the 7 strikeouts thing at a baseball game.

    2) irrelevant

    3) Roko should be a third stringer this year, if he stays the same, have fun in Europe.

    • msmith04 says:

Does any body else remember when every ticket was redeemable for a free movie rental at blockbuster? I think it was in year one or two at SkyDome. My brother and I used to search the empty stands for ticket stubs after the game. Good times.

    • Mash says:

You know what – I’m down with a Raptors win = a slice of Pizza.

The amount of times the Raptors are likely to win would probably be the amount of times they would have scored 100 points, so from Pizza Pizza’s perspective, there’s no real reason why they shouldn’t be okay with the switch.

And I think at this point, the Raptors fans (or most Raptors fans anyways) crave wins far more than they crave the entertainment value of 100 points.

I think I like this idea more than any.

      • Mash says:

        LOL, why the hate?

I think something was lost in translation, so I’ll use numbers.

I intended to say that the Raptors are likely to win 30-33 of their home games in my opinion, and that’s likely the same number of times we would have scored over 100 points in those 41 home contests.

That’s why the Raptors win/100 points doesn’t really make too much difference from Pizza Pizza’s perspective. They’re still giving a free slice for 33/41 games.

At least with the win-scenario, we keep it all positive, and we applaud our players for winning a game, not boo them for blowing out an opposing team 98-73, as the latter has sometimes made some fans inadvertently do.

        • AboVeDaClouDs says:

I like the 3 point thing especially since we have a good 3 pt shooters on the team in bargnani and calderon and it sort of includes the only thing the raptors have been good at and currently holds the record for

      • Arsenalist says:

LOL. Why does this post have a -17?

        1. Win = Pizza. It’ll cost Pizza Pizza a little more but at least there won’t be that stupid cheer late in the fourth quarter that every visiting team announcer wonders about.

        2. It’s stupid and speaks of their immaturity.

        3. It’s between Roko and Douby really and so far Douby’s ahead. I suppose if Douby wins the job Roko could make the 15-man roster and be a healthy scratch for half the season and step in from time to time. I think D-League’s the better option. Unless of course he somehow ups his game real quick. I think this is a decision that will be made after training camp where Douby and Roko will go at it for real.

  15. Raúl says:

    1) don’t have any idea about what you’re saying
    2) Don’t follow twitter, and don’t actually care

    3) About roko, that’s an interesting question. I said it here before, with jack’s signing we aviod putting too much pressure on roko, something that maybe he can’t handle right now. But i think he should be in the 9th or 10th men rotation of every game, if not he would never develope in the type of back up pg we hope for.
I think he should be the one who enter when Turks goes to the bench (assuming turk will play more than jose), that’s not a crazy thing. Roko would take the pg spot, moving jack to the sg and delfino to the three. In this case he will have less minutes but he could still play on daily basis

  16. 1) I am not sure what the Over/Under would be, but once determined, Hustle Plays i.e. dive on the floor to get possession, saving a ball from going into the crowd, etc. Perfect for Toronto hockey pucks.

    2) Good – You can always tune it out, NBD in July

    3) 3rd Stringer – Too early to give up on, but not ready for Prime Time

  17. Tigercub says:

    1. Hold opposing teams below 100. Price – meet & punch with Hadi. 2 ice-cream included.

    2. As entertaining as watching paint dry. Unfollowed. Communicate with your fans, rather than spamming the Twitter. Take an example from Dwight Howard.

    3. D-League. Dance Team. Somewhere, where he gets playing time and you can call him back in case of serious injury to Jose or Jarrett.

  18. Tom L says:

    1) Love the idea of Pizza for <100 by the opponent. Also mentioned it to a few last year. Keeps fans cheering for the right thing (and god knows we’ll need more help on D this year).
    2) Some good (CV’s charity angle), some annoying.
    3) 3rd stringer as partial insurance if one of Calderon/Jack goes down. In that case probably plays <12 min a night and wouldn’t kill us. May learn from Alvin and become “serviceable” (hate that word, but using it all the time)

  19. KD says:

    1) Either the Leafs or the Jays had/have a promotion where one winning section gets free pizza during that game. The PR guys would come out with boxes of pizza and hand them out. That was pretty cool.

    2) Doesn’t bother me either way.

    3) If he’s not going to get playing time in the big’s, they should demote him. Unless he can get enough practice during, you know, practice.

  20. JY Felony says:

    1) If Raps hold a team under 100 a random fan kicks Devlin or Rautins in the nuts.
    2) Don’t really follow it that much, but it’s not upsetting me.
    3) Roko might as well be the third-stringer, if by some stroke of luck he blossoms at some point through the season we can have him as backup PG and JJ can be the scoring backup SG.

  21. DanH says:

    1) … Well, the “Score 100″ promotion is crap, because fans (in-arena ‘fans’) start cheering for the 100th point, regardless of the game.

Similarly the “Hold to less than 100″ idea has the same flaw – if the Raps are in a 99-99 game going back and forth, I don’t particularly want to hear any booing if the opponent happens to score – especially if the Raps have a chance to take the lead on the next possession.

I agree with a couple posters above. Win = Pizza. Simple as that, and gets the fans that usually cheer for pizza cheering for a win (and pizza).

    2) Couldn’t possibly care less.

    3) IF Jack is on board, would like for Ukic (and O’Bryant) to D-league it up this year. Let Douby hold down the 3rd string PG. Otherwise, need Ukic for third-stringer (ie I never want to see Banks on the court in Raps red ever again).

  22. PC says:

    1) Sacrifice the Pizza Pizza Mascot during halftime of the home opener.
    2) Deleted Bosh from Twitter until training camp.
    3) Makes me think of Calderon in that we’re lucky we didn’t give up on him when his 3pt percentage was below the equator.

  23. yo'man says:

    1. Timbits
    2. Twitter
    3. Ukic for Belinelli

  24. MC_B-rad says:

    1) Agree with the win, or take it one step further and make it a “blow-out” win, ie 10 points or more. My guess is that if we are as high scoring and porous defensively as we are expecting this year, the number of “blow-outs” wouldnt be that far off from the number of 100 point wins, and it takes the stupid booing out of the middle-end of fourth quarter.

    2) Couldnt care less about the twitter, more pissed that some blue jays guy keeps spamming useless shite on my page…AND SERIOUSLY…I NEED A DECENT BLACKBERRY APP FOR TWITTER, I HATE TWITTERBERRY….any suggestions??

    3) I completely agree with who cares about Roko (release, D league, trade), I think Douby should be the third PG

  25. Duncan says:

    1. I also like Win=Pizza. No controversy there.

    2. Don’t care.

    3. He needs mad PT in the D-league, we’ll bring him up for the PLAYOFFS!

  26. Andre says:

    1) Hold opponents under 100 AND win.
    2) Don’t care
    3) D League I guess

  27. Calgary Raps Fan says:

    1) I like the “hold the opponent under 100 points in a Raptors victory” idea

    2) who cares, I don’t have time in my life for twitter, there’s paint drying somewhere that needs to be watched

    3) Roko is young and still has upside, I would try packaging him with some of our other baggage/expiring contracts (George/O’Bryant) for a backup SF or even picks… at the very least it would free up a spot to resign Mensah-Bonsu (assuming Delfino & Rasho will be signed to fill the last 2 remaining roster spots after Jack signing is official)

  28. Raptorsfreak says:

    1) The promotion is harmless, who cares if some knuckleheads boo about not getting pizza?
Think about the people who spend all their money on Raptors Tickets! How are they gonna eat?
    J/K

    2) I like what they are doing. Call it a lower scale battle like Ashton and CNN. The summer off-season is long and boring, so anything to pep things up. Plus if we get to see Charlie V. in a wig playing Bruno, what’s not to like!

    3) Roko should be our 3rd PG on the depth chart. He should have had that job last year, but due to unfortunate circumstances he was thrust into more playing time and a more crucial role. I believe because of this us fans have gotten a poor perception of him. A lot of people have disdain for the Euro players right away because of a perceived notion that they are soft. Give him some time and he will develop into a valuable role player for the Raptors. We cannot give up on him too soon, especially since the same critics said the same thing about Bargnani and look at the promise he is showing for the Raptors now.

  29. NBAFAN says:

    1. If the Raptors win AND hold the opposing team’s leading scorer under his average?
    2. it’s only mildly interesting because it’s July and basketball related stories are drying up. It’s not annoying to me though.
    3. It seems Roko will be the 3rd stringer and thus far he’s shown us no reason to believe he shouldn’t be. But things change, maybe he’ll figure it out (higher shooting percentage, not leaving his feet to pass)

  30. LAs Only says:

    1. Lakers do free tacos if they score more than 100 points AND hold other team under 90. That’s a nice balance. Just having a defense one is boring, and not in the spirit of the Raptors philosophy (read not playing D).

    2. The people who find it interesting can be interested. everyone can ignore. What the problem is?

    3. 3rd string. If jose gets injured, he’s a more than serviceable backup.

  31. it is what it is says:

    1. Win = Pizza OR 1 random RR fan in the house get to slap Khandor!!!
    2. careless
    3. 3rd string (D-League until one of our guards get hurt)

    • AltRaps says:

Seriously? If you want to crack wise, fine, make a joke, but not against another poster.

That has stopped for the past few days and it’s been cool conversation. Nothing has been done recently to provoke that comment, so lets keep it that way.

You have some great points and posts, don’t degrade them. If you want to beat someone down, do so with your basketball knowledge.

Unless they are Hadi, then you can go nuts.

      • it is what it is says:

        Fair enough I will stop.

But maybe you can answer me this???

As a Raptor fan It just makes me wonder why you guys give this guy such a platform to promote his negative blog day in and day out????

I am not saying everything has to be positive but it amazes me some of the junk he gets linked. Can’t one of you guys atleast read his crap over first and then decide if it’s worthy of this great site????

I will never speak of him again I will keep this to ball but if anyone does not think a possible rotation of:

        Jose
        Jack
        Delfino
        Derozan
        Hedo
        Bosh
        AB7
        Rasho
        Evans

        In comparison to

        Jose
        Ukic
        Parker
        Kapono
        Graham
Marion (head case who will lose his mind 5 times in the next 4 years)
        Bosh
        AB7
        Hump

When you eliminate Joey, Ukic and Kapono you could replace them with me Raps fan and Arsenalist and it would improve….

We are a MUCH better team heading into next seasn then at the end of the season. I don’t even think Hedo is great or anything but he is an above average starting small forward who over the next 5 years will be better then Marion easily.

The East is getting better so NO playoff spot is guranted but we could finish anywhere between 4 and 10 right now most likely a playoff season is upon us.

        GO Raps!!!!

        • AltRaps says:

During the past year, there hasn’t been much positive spin anywhere about the Raptors. We’ve been “accused” of being negative plenty of times here ourselves in the posts we put up.

We link to Raptors content and it’s one of the things we have been continuously commended on. Some are great articles, some are verging on pure jokes, but it’s all in the eye of the beholder.

My suggestion? If you come across a site or particular blogger you don’t like, don’t visit it ever again. If you are visiting it through Morning Coffee or our weblinks, we clearly state the name of the site you will be transferred to. If the site is listed there, simply don’t click on it.

Just because a few are vocally opposed to someone doesn’t make it the majority.

          • it is what it is says:

Agreed. A lot of negative pub and deservedly so.

However I don’t think either of us can speak for the majority.

Dare I say your dislike/like buttons do tell more of the story.

See the person in question net total….that should tell you all you need to know.

I would also say if you polled the fans here at R.R you would get your answer but as it does not pretain to basketball I would doubt we would see that question.

I know I have the right to read or skip what is linked on here, however being such a big fan of this team and this site I just hope we can rid ourselves of the Marcus Banks and D Georges on this team and on this site.

            • AltRaps says:

Should we do the same poll about you? What about, say, Rub or Raptoronto? We knew when we added the like and dislike button that some would be targeted and some would use it to prop up their own work. It wasn’t the intention, but it was expected.

If you are intent on being a supporter of the team and this site, I think your passion is best used by doing just that..being a positive supporter of both. Is it that difficult to focus on the positive and not the negative at every turn? You accuse one individual of doing that, yet reading your post above you are doing just that.

If you would like people to be more like you, set an example.

Now, lets move on from this subject as this isn’t the forum to judge people or our ability to run this site. If we were doing such a poor job at it, I doubt people would be coming back.

              Thanks.

  32. Baadasssss! says:

    1. hold teams under 90
    2. blocked cb until race is over hoping that cv will make cb dress up like RuPaul and sing “I’m Every Woman”
    3. 3rd string PG but close runner-up to turk as the ugliest raptor.

  33. Rapthoseleafs says:

    1) Replace Pizza Pizza – how about a couple of chicken balls for when we lose by 20

    2) Bosh and CV – tweetle dee, tweetle this – I don’t get the value. Maybe Homeland might.

    3) If JJ comes, I’m afraid Yoko Rukic will become a puzzle that takes time. 3rd spot will have to do.

  34. Mike D says:

    1. Raptor fans should get free pizza if both Ukic and Bargnani appear to have showered and shaved for the same game. Matt Devlin could judge their appearance on the big screen during a fourth quarter T.V. time out. The marketing department should appreciate this as the stench of these two Europeans comes at you something fierce if you happen to be courtside watching them raise up for a couple of free throws after a five game road trip.

    2. Regarding the juvenille Twitters frequently being sent out by our franchise player to 15 year olds around the world (Could anyone see an MJ or a Bird or a McHale Twittering in their primes?), I think I’m pretty sure of three things:
    A) Bosh seems to be pretty damn good with technology,
    B) He seems to be pretty damn bad at scoring in the paint and;
    C) He’s just downright awful in the hair salon. And I think you could say all of the same things for Charlie V.

    3. How can you not love Ukic? Did you not see his stat sheet? Wasn’t it just about this time last year that Colangelo called him part of the best Raptor team he’d ever put together? The one that won 30 games? Sure it was!! Now you want to throw him to the D-League? How will Raptor fans win their pizza? I’m sorry folks, but just because he is European, it doesn’t mean that Calderon is a substitute for Roko in terms of cleanliness.

On the minus side, however, I’m not sure how well Roko will take it if Rasho comes back, as the Croat-Serb tension could turn the locker room into a Balkan-style tinderbox. Triano will have to juggle the minutes carefully, as that kind of a beef transcends basketball.

  35. Dave says:

    (3) Ukic = 3rd string point guard … off the roster in 12 months time if he can’t improve his weaknesses

  36. mortgagejake says:

    1. No comment – can’t really think about something funny to say.
    2. as someone said – if you don’t like it, don’t bother reading it. But – put yourself in the position of a multi-million dollar athlete- wouldn’t you do the same thing in their position?
    3. aren’t 2 games a little too soon to be calling ukic a dissappointment? let’s let the guy get his groove on please.

  37. Raptoronto says:

    1. Free pizza if Raps win by ten or more.
    2. Don’t care…those who like it participate, those who don’t, don’t.
    3. 3rd string. He’s not ready for big minutes but I’m not ready to give up on him it yet either.

  38. dui says:

    1) How about give pizza out if we lose by 10+ ( People give good money to watch a shitty game ? Already ruin 3 hours of their lives , at least you can do is heal their stomache on their piss off drive home. )

    2) Plz Chris , go improve on your right hand instead … wait , ughhh OR JUST GET A FRIGGEN HAIR CUT PLZZZZ. You have already made Snoop Dogg and Sprewell very proud.

    3) It has proved nothing that I’ve already known. Even if Ukic improves on his jumper , he is still turnover prone.

  39. Scott says:

    1) douby gets an assist, free pizza.

    2) Only good because charlie v is giving shoes to kids in need.

    3) 3rd string of course. D-League for championship-calibur teams though.

  40. Rub says:

    1) The only thing wrong with the Pizza Pizza promotion is when they changed it from getting the pizza right away to waiting a day and getting it. Which basically meant that since that rule change I have yet to eat a free piece of pizza. It should be the night of, you watch Raptors win and get a pizza. Peasants rejoice.

I hate the hold team under 100 for promo idea, first off I want to cheer for the Raps to score not for the other team to hit the rim, it’s not nearly as fun. Secondly, when Raps score over a 100 they usually win, when they hold the other team to under 100 it could go either way.

    2) Someone said it best closer to the top “you can ignore twitter you know”

    3) Ukic 3rd stringer, but keep him on the team, I can’t see him doing well in D-League.

  41. dirtmobile says:

    1. i seriously doubt that most people care about the pizza.. why not do it for a better cause and give the money to charity..
    2. who cares.. but kudos to charlie v for helping the needy..
    3. cheap enough resource to keep on the bench as a third string.. still too early to give up on him..

  42. Peter says:

    1. I would love the under 100 point promotion. Or the lapdances work, too.

    2. As someone said earlier, they should d o a competition on who is the first to play some defence on the court. Might take a couple of games for that to happen. Both are average players in my opinion. (yes Chris, you are only slightly better than Charlie V… that’s pretty embarrassing)

    3. Roko is good. Trust me. He will turn it around sometimes. Just keep him on the roster.

  43. shats says:

    1. If we hold a team under 100 points, one spectator gets to come down and shave Douby’s monobrow AND Bargs beard (its not going to happen often so both growths should come back)

    2. Is don’t give a crap an acceptable answer

    3. Right now 3rd string pg, Jack is a necessity for this team. In a couple of years, maybe a back-up pg

  44. 1) For every win above 40, everyone in the upper bowl gets an outdated Raptors jersey (Parker, Garbo, Master P…).
    2) Meh.
    3) If I had my way, Roko’d be starting.
Just kidding. Really, I think he’s got the chops for backup PG, but BC seems to have him set for 3rd string.

  45. dsl says:

    1) A couple of people have said similar things, but I don’t see this one specifically:

X number of Raptor dunks gets pizza.

Getting to the rim has been a challenge around here for a loooong time, so this could encourage that. Plus, everyone loves a dunk and it might help promote our Designated Dunker, Demar Derozan.

    2) Not paying attention, but clearly fun for them.

    3) Don’t want to make excuses, but love D. Smith’s philosophy on Summer league: (paraphrasing) You can’t tell who CAN play, but you can tell who CAN’T. I don’t think Roko falls into the latter category, so I think he’s worth keeping around.

    • dsl says:

Can you imagine the crowd reaction when they get the pizza dunk? Plus, you could trademark ‘Pizza Dunk’ and tie it in with those dippin’ sauces they sell. God, I’m doing their work for them.

  46. comparitor says:

    1) Um, why do so many people think that the promotion should be tied to an area in which the team needs to improve? Like is Bosh going to say ’shit, if I can just get more rebounds or play better defence the fans are going to get some cheese and tomato sauce on a nice little peice of cardboard, I finally have a reason to concentrate on these areas of my game! ITS ON’. The only motivation it has ever provided is for bench players to run up the score in the final minutes of games that are already decided.

    2. don’t care

    3. Third stringer – still needs too much work on his jumper, and has very limited court vision.
