I agree CB4 is not the superstar captain that will lead the raptors or any other team to a championship. He is not the #1 guy in my opinion he is what Pau Gasol is to Kobe or what Amare is to Nash. But to think for 1 minute that Toronto doesnt have a big market, or theres no pressure to win.

You guys need to take a look in the mirror so you can see things clearer, either that or come to Toronto.

Fans here have been calling not just for Colangelo’s head but pretty much every raptor except Bosh. And now that he had refused to sign an extension people want to see him swapped for the best possible deal.

With regards to Colangelo, I think at this moment he is a dufus. He can’t trade Bargs now because that would be an admission that he made a mistake by drafting him in the first place. He can’t trade Bosh because that too would also be an admission that he wasn’t able to create a winning team and thus keep his star player happy.

I think Colangelo will hang on to Chris Bosh and Bargnani as long as possible, even risking letting Chris Bosh walk away for nothing.

Teams SHOULD not hold onto former No. 1 [overall] Draft Picks who are under-achieving Big Men, as the longer they remain with their original team without fulfilling their hoped for promise of performance the less and less actual value they retain as the years go by.

No one in the NBA drafts a No. 1 overall selection to be a long term back-up at any position. Players who fit best in that position are considered long term busts … unless they can be flipped for other more worthwhile assets [e.g. what Joe D did with Darko].

The littany of good-great NBA teams with a relatively “poor” player at the PF spot is considerable, and part of the very reason a team like the Raptors could have gotten away with playing Bosh at the Center position beside a player like Jorge Garbojosa or Kris Humphries or Rasho Nesterovic or Antonio Davis, etc.

A player like Anderson Varejao or David Lee … neither of whom are dominant in any sense of the word … is perfectly capable of excelling beside someone like Bosh for a solid team [i.e. a lot better than 13th place] in the EC.

of course, as rap fans, dealing bargs & kapono for lee & harrington (while retaining bosh) is good for us, and a pretty big friggin’ no-brainer. but while we’re at it, why not see if they’ll thrown in chandler, galinari & their pick…we’ll spice up the pot by tossing banks & hump into the mix too. that’s a sweeeet deal, no? entirely realistic too.

If Andrea Bargnani was as good as many Raptors fans seem to think he might be then it’s the New York Knicks who SHOULD be jumping at the opportunity to add a “young stud” like Il Mago who was the No. 1 [Overall] Selection in the 2006 NBA Draft [and still on a relatively cheap contract], in exchange for a relatively dead-weight contract like Harrington’s and a “non-scoring” Big like Mr. Lee [30th Pick in the 2005 NBA Draft].

On the other hand, if the reality is that the NYK have little interest in that deal for Bargnani then, maybe, it’s because the rest of the NBA doesn’t quite believe that Bargnani is as good as many Raptors fans.

Considering the Knicks are preparing for 2010 and wanting to attract Lebron to the big apple, therefore not really wanting to commit to David Lee’s extension, however getting Bosh would help them attract Lebron:

Toronto trades : Chris Bosh (sign and trade) and Jason Kapono

For

New York: David Lee (sign and trade) and Al Harrington (sign and trade)

[PS. I can close my eyes and picture Chris Bosh on the left side of the screen being asked questions by an interviewer on the right side of the screen, while sitting on a set of some sort ... but cannot remember who the actually interviewer was.]

Whenever i seen Bosh asked a question about what position he prefers he’s given basically the same response.

i.e. It is physically draining to bang with the big boys all game long but all he cares about is winning and he plays the position which his coach asks to him to play.

“I want to play Center for this team. Therefore, that’s the position I am going to play, since I’m the franchise player here.”

In this instance, it’s irrelevant what position you substitute for “Center” … the point is, IMO, CB4 is not someone who thinks that he has the right to make decisions like that which he happens to believe are the responsibilities of the coach and the GM.

2. This is one of the places where we happen to disagree.

i.e. What exactly ‘Switching Places’ with Bargs actually means for the Raptors, and just how much a move like this would change the entire culture of this team/organization, at this time.

If Bosh goes to the Center position with a legit #4/PF beside him, like Garbo was, for example, AND Bargnani goes to the bench … as a sub who only plays as a replacement for Bosh, at the Center position, and gets paid accordingly … AND the team then finds a competent back-up for Calderon [or uses Parker in this capacity], PLUS finds a useful pair of bookend Wing players AND assembles a sound NBA coaching staff, then the Raptors have a solid chance of becoming a perennial Top 4 team in the Eastern Conference, IMO, under the direction of Bryan Colangelo.

Admittedly, that’s a lot of AND’s and PLUSES there … but, afterall, that is precisely what a NBA GM gets paid a lot of money to do successfully, on a consistent basis.
