AltRaps 3 Point Shot

Speak…

1) If Alex English were to leave this offseason, do you think this loss is a sizable one for the team?

2) BC and CB sit down this summer. Bosh says he still has no answer and doesn’t think he will until the end of next season. What do you do with him?

3) Favourite Raptors play of the season?

  1. hardcore raps says:

    1) not likely

    2) trade him… can’t let him walk for nothing

    3) Pops dunk fest vs Indiana

  2. Arsenalist says:

    1) I have no idea.

    2) You trade him for two reasons. #1) You don’t want to have the “Will Bosh stay or will he go?” question hanging on your head the entire season. Too distracting. #2) If he doesn’t sign an extension, he’s leaning towards exiting.

    3) Probably Marion’s dunk on Granger. Joey had a couple nice throw-downs too. Not much to pick from really.

  3. d279 says:

    Nope
    Ditto
    Bargs 3 in Beantown

  4. Pizzaman says:

    1) No idea
20 Trade him trade him trade him!!! Can’t have the question of will he stay up in the air all year when you know he’ll bolt for the right offer and right circumstances. Plus the Raps need to get on with building this team now not after next season.
    3)Bargs three in Beantown

  5. Mauro says:

    1) the only assistant I want back is the one that followed Bargs during the summer
2)Find a good SG and then we will see.
    3)3)Bargs three in Beantown

  6. Paps says:

    1. I don’t think anyone even knows how valuabe he is. He’s one of the best players ever. It would definitly hurt the team. Also sign Alvin to a coaching job.

    2. Sign him as soon as you can. Do everything possible to convince him Toronto is on the place to be. Sign a 2 guard to compliment him. Go over the cap etc.. to win.

    3. Barg’s improvement. Last night was pretty good too.

  7. #1) If English (and Evans) are replaced with Iavaroni and Carlisimo, I’d consider that an upgrade. As far as evaluating the value of assistant coaches, that’s close to impossible from a fan prospective.

#2) A “Not Sure” response from Bosh is as close to a “Not Re-Signing” response. As much as I want to keep Bosh, paying him a full-max contract is only worthwhile if we can re-sign Marion AND acquire a SG who can create his own shot. If BC can’t acquire the latter two players, we’re a threadmill team with Bosh.

    #3) I honestly can’t think of one.

  8. Dave says:

    (1) Nope — Did I miss something, why would English leave?
    (2) It wouldn’t change anything
    (3) Roko floaters against San Antonio

  9. Macy O'Baston says:

    1) Tough for non-insiders to evaluate, but it hasn’t been reported that he has a specific ‘task’ (eg, defense, developing certain players), and since the team sucks, I’d say no.

    2) Depends when the convo is. If it happens immediately, you see what you can do with the draft/free agency. If he’s still undecided in July, you explore trades.

    3) Season opener (OT W vs. GS) – Not a specific play but high hopes with JO’s D, rowdy fans, several nice Bargs dunks.

  10. Marc says:

    1) I’m not sure what he does exactly, but it never hurts to have a legend on the bench (unless it’s Isiah Thomas).

    2) Slap him around until he agrees to a 5-year 5 mil deal.

    3) Roko’s game winner at San Antonio.

  11. Babyface Killah says:

    1.) don’t care

2.) Trade him!!!! And start a bidding war between teams but no way should we trade him to cleveland, miami, or orlando.

3.) I loved the Marion on granger or the bosh shot over howard.

  12. tonious35 says:

    1) There are some assistants that actually make a difference and make coaches look smarter (Thibboneau, Boston Celtics), and looking at our results in Raptorland, NO! Let him go.

    2) We’ll see… if BC pulls the trigger it better be a top tier SG/SF on the rise and the other teams’ 1st round draft pick (or hopefully two of them) most guaranteed for 8th-15th for 2010. If he can land another low payroll hidden gem that is either a growing PG or a guaranteed 7-9 rbs./g energy player that would be good. If Bosh is in another uniform, I’ll give him a standing ovation if he visits because he was always a classy guy who tried his best despite his short comings.

    3) Roko shocking a more healthy SA Spurs team with his 3pointer and floater at the end.

  13. Francis says:

    1. Like everybody else – who knows? Bringing in experienced (former head coach) assistants can’t hurt though. Hopefully they get somebody with a good rep who will help bring free agents to Toronto.

    2. If he doesn’t sign an extension this summer, trade him before the season starts. See ya Chris. Thanks for the memories. How much do you want to bet he gets traded to a Western conference team?

    3. Bargs play in general. That last-second three against the Celtics to send it to overtime was pretty sweet.

  14. Raps Fan says:

    1. Yes it would. Can’t keep letting valuable/classy assistants leave (Jim Todd anyone?).

    2. You do whatever you can to get him to resign. If all else fails, you trade him for young talent/starter/1st rounders.

    3. Roko game winner.

  15. Screech says:

1.who cares.why get sentimental over coaches?
2.seeya botch.take your greasy ass fingers and proactive face to be shareef on another team.get whatever we can.
3.bargs shutting up the loser xenophobes all season long.especially the ones that were adamant that hump was a better prospect….FUCKING MORONS.

  16. Sam says:

    1) Huh? I know enough to know I don’t know how to pick assistants

    2) “I don’t know” is a douchebag way of saying, I’m probably not staying. I think CB has more class than that. My guess is he knows he wants to leave now but is doing his best to keep his trade value up. Oh, and he’s being honest when he says he has fun playing basketball.

    3) Bargs breaking Reggie Evans’ ankles.

  17. Alex says:

    1) Unless he was personally assigned to Bargs Development cut him loose.

    2) Either sign him right away and figure out a long term plan to get people around him so we can compete. Or trade him, for a bunch of player at similar stages in there career to Bargs.

3)Any Barg pump fake from 3 into a pull up from the top of the key.

  18. bs says:

    1- don’t care
2- go into rebuild mode, trade bosh
3- Wil Solomon jumping in the air, then looking for someone to pass to…classic highlight (low-light)

  19. eyebleaf says:

    1 – Alex who?
2 – Bitch slap him, record it on video (of course), put that shit on YouTube, and kick him the fuck out of the office.
3 – Pops’ multiple ridiculous jams.

  20. Brain Colangelo says:

    1. Who cares. The team can’t win with Triano as coach and I’m not firing him.

    2. Bosh will re-sign. It’s a bad economy and I’m offering max money. he wants money, not glory.

    3. Being written about in this blog. It’s magic.

  21. Brain Colangelo says:

3a. Anything and everything Khandor writes. This corner holds that such specific writings demonstrate how to think about the NBA GAME and HOW IT IS PLAYED TODAY as well as acumen, blah blah, blah blah… also magic.

  22. MoneyCarlo says:

    1) english is glue that holds that team together on some nights.
    2) resign Bosh for remainder of his athletic life.
    3) Ukic game winners.

    4) alraps and arsenalist sit down this summer. What do you do with him?
A: trade altraps to “khandor’s sports blog” and draft a real baller to do roll calls.

  23. wsg.. says:

    1) Alex English a sizable loss? Probably, but I can’t say I really know what it is he does. Looking at our record, new blood might be good, so I could live with it.

    2) What would I do with Bosh? Do everything I can to get an answer and if I still don’t get one, start fishing for what I can get for him now. What else could you do? That said, I will hate to see him go … if that’s what happens. He may or may not be worth max money … I just don’t know. But I believe he’s not as far from being worth it as what some think.

    3) A few favorite plays come to mind, but for some reason, one that I think about (right now) is from during that game in Toronto four – six weeks ago (?) when Bargnani galloped the length of the floor right down the middle, took the pass and put it in. Something about seeing a seven footer running full-out (near enough), full stride and fluidly, ending in a basket, was a rare enough sight for it to be remarkable and memorable, for me.

  24. j says:

    1. i dunno. why would he leave? keep the guy that worked on bargs last summer. hire charles oakley to bring toughness to this bunch of pussies.

    2. bc better improve the roster and the team itself before worrying about bosh. think first about marion, joey, AP, are we gonna bring them back? our main need is a 2 guard. hopefully we could draft a decent one. then offer bosh an extension. i’m still hoping that he stays. he is a good guy. he respects us, the fans. very anti-VC.

    3. bargs 3 at the garden.
    roko’s gamewinner against the spurs.
bosh’s deep 2 jumper over dwight.
bosh’s recent game winning 3 pointer at dc.

    nathan robinson’s block on bosh.

  25. eyebleaf says:

I want money, not glory, too.

  26. verbatim says:

the LAST THING I want is for CB4 to walk away from the team in 2010, because everyone at the ACC would probably start booing him every time he came back. And Bosh deserves better than that.

  27. ebrian says:

    1. No worse off than losing Mop Girl
    2. Trade him even if he says he wants to sign an extension
    3. Their best “play” was pretending to care

    • Marc says:

oh wow I thought I was the only one who noticed Mop Girl. That’s hilarious. She will be missed.

  28. Dimash says:

    1) Alex English is key
    2) Resign
    3) Did you see VC?
