Arsenalist: Just because it's theoretically possible that this conversation might have happened, that doesn't mean it's a good idea to link and encourage people like SAS who have a track record of making shit up to draw attention to themselves.

I'm a little confused by this post. The first paragraph makes it seem like you don't put much stock in Smith's claim, then the second paragraph makes it seem like you think he's onto something. Which is it?

While it's certainly possible that this conversation happened, why would Stephen A. Smith, of all people, be the one to get the scoop? He has about as much journalistic credibility as a carnival barker or the guy from the ShamWow commercial.

Bosh for Aldridge and Fernandez - done. The salaries don't match up so can we interest you in a Jason Kapono in exchange for the contract of your choice? You tell Pritchard, I'll send Colangelo a letter.

I think the NBA should legalize one trade a year to be negotiated between designated team fansites.

Hey, Blazer fan here. I've found the recent Bosh plight quite interesting, and wanted to gauge the public opinion on the Blazer chances at trading for him.

As you all know, Aldridge plays a similar game to Bosh. I wouldn't put them on the same level, though, as Aldridge is not nearly as efficient as Bosh, due to his low number of foul shot attempts.

Here's the thing: Portland could offer a package of Aldridge, Webster/Outlaw, and Fernandez/Bayless. Lafrentz's expiring contract could also be worked into the deal. I will say it now, however: Fernandez and Bayless will not both leave the Blazers. Do not try to configure a deal that ships both of our scoring bench guards away.

What do Raptor fans think of this proposal? If Bosh is upset about the Toronto fan support, he can come to a place where the fans cheered the Jail Blazers for years, until Bonzi Wells upset the apple cart and flipped them off.

Thanks,
Zach

Bill Simmons proposed something similar: trade Bosh and AP for Amare and Barbosa, and trade JO for Marion... you get the Phoenix Suns ver. 2.0... but, seeing as ver. 1.0 couldn't win, I don't know whether this is a good deal. Also, I doubt Amare would re-sign with Toronto, so you're putting yourself in the same position (i.e. marquee player walking in 2010).

The Knicks have pieces, but I don't know how I'd feel about a centre that can't block shots and diesn't defend well (David Lee). He's a good player and all, but I think Bargs would be better paired with a true banger...

well, seeing as how we have no idea if Bosh even said this to Colangelo, all of these trade rumours are pretty useless. But, just for interest sake, what are the kind of players that you think would work for the Raps if we lost Bosh?

The only way I can see Bosh leaving as being a good thing is if they can acquire:
Classical NBA Centre:
What should the Raps look for to build on? I think, given Bargnani's skills and the eventual shift that he becomes a focus of the front court, he moves to the 4, and we pick up a post-up/rebounder/blocker a la Okafor or Bynum. (not these people exactly, just players who play like them). Look how well Bynum works with Pau, and Dwight works with Rashard. And, sorry Jawai, you don't count.
Athletic Wings:
We should look for athletic wings that can drive and dish, because Calderon does not seem to be that kind of point guard - he will get his assists differently. A player like Pietrus would work well. Also, if we get a solid NBA classical centre (big, rebounder, post-up) then our #3 need not be like Marion, who is valuable because of his rebounding potential. As long as he is athletic and can shoot the ball, we are good.

If we lose Bosh, our team (given Bargnani's jumpshooting style, and Calderon's half-court mentality) should pick up these kinds of players to make us a contender. If we keep Bosh, then, the strategy is completely different, of course - but this is all idle speculation.

The W's may be more disfunctional than the Raptors but there's no way they would give up Biedrins in that deal. I'd say Azabuike, Turiaf, one of their young bigs and a draft pick might be doable if management on the GS side ever manages to pulls its collective head out of its own a**.

If BC ships Bosh I hope he does it to a team where Bosh becomes the #1 option. If Miami or Cleveland gets him, we will probably watch Bosh win multiple championships.

I like Bosh & Kapono for Amare and Barbosa or a deal with the Knicks that nets the Raps Lee, Gallinari and an expiring contract. Chicago might be worth talking to in the off-season (maybe Deng and some filler with a pick thrown in).

The W’s may be more disfunctional than the Raptors but there’s no way they would give up Biedrins in that deal. I’d say Azabuike, Turiaf, one of their young bigs and a draft pick might be doable if management on the GS side ever manages to pulls its collective head out of its own a**.

I've been saying that about Ellis for some time. It's worth BC's time to call them up about him and I'm guessing if Bosh is on the table, nobody on the Warriors would be off-limits.

The trade Raul proposed wouldn't make us a contender unless Azubuike turns out to be a steal. We'd still need to make an FA signing to return to respectability but if Ellis is included, the equation changes.
