Cleveland drafted James 5 years ago and thus far have reached the finals and the 2nd round a few times. Now there top in the rankings and have a bunch of expirings this year. That team is going places. New Orleans, Atlanta, Indiana all these great young teams that are really going to make a push within 2-3years.

Besides that, i have to respectfully disagree with others who say the talent level is comparable to that of when BC acquired the squad. Note, its not what another GM would have done during BC’s time, but people claimed it is the same talent level as THAT TEAM AT THAT PRESENT TIME.

First off, bosh and calderon are greatly improved from that time. JO as our c is much better than loren woods, bonner or araujo (oh god). Humpharies is a much better back-up than those three. Our wings were rose and peterson, and they are better than parker and moon, but not significantly. Now our rotation containted villaneva, graham, sow, etc., with kaps, graham, hump, we are much better than them.

I, however, do agree that BC has done an average job with the assets he had coming in, but realisticly with respect to cap space, which free agent wants to come to Toronto in the 05 season? We would have had to overpay for any quality free agrent. The draft had no legit first pick, it was a toss-up between any of those guys. (roy,gay,bargs,alridge)

Finally, the east was significantly weaker than the East of today. We need to take that context into considering when comparing the results of the respective teams.
